The Removal of Doubts 2 - (15/9/19)

If you want evidence that Allah ordered the Prophet ﷺ to fight them, although they bore witness in Allah creating, providing, sustaining them, giving life and causing death, then read what Allah said in Surah Yunus [10:31]:

“Say: "Who provides for you from the sky and from the earth? Or who owns hearing and sight? And who brings out the living from the dead and brings out the dead from the living? And who disposes the affairs?" They will say: "Allah." Say: "Will you not then have Taqwa of Allah?”

If you fear Allah you would worship Him alone and not direct worship to other than Him.

And in Surah Al-Mu’minoon [23:84-89]:

Say: "Whose is the earth and whosoever is therein? If you know!"

They will say: "It is Allah's!" Say: "Will you not then remember?"

Say: "Who is (the) Lord of the seven heavens, and (the) Lord of the Great Throne?"

They will say: "Allah." Say: "Will you not then fear Allah (believe in His Oneness, obey Him, believe in the Resurrection and Recompense for each and every good or bad deed)."

Say "In Whose Hand is the sovereignty of everything (i.e. treasures of each and everything)? And He protects (all), while against Whom there is no protector, (i.e. if Allah saves anyone none can punish or harm him, and if Allah punishes or harms anyone none can save him), if you know."

Allah created us with the nature of being inclined to anyone who does good to us. Allah bestows favours upon us, so how can our hearts then turn to other than Him?

Umar رضي الله عنه used to wonder at where their minds were when they used to worship the date idols and then eat them when they were hungry.

The early polytheists did not have a problem with Tawheed Ruboobiya. They had no doubt that Allah was their Lord, their Creator, their Sutainer, The One who manages their affairs and causes life and death. This type of Tawheed, however, did not enter them into the Tawheed which the Prophet ﷺ called them to.

The Tawheed they rejected was Tawheed Al-Ibadah which the polytheists of the present times call “belief.” What do they mean by belief? They believe that their saints and those whom they worship have the attributes of Allah. The polytheists of the present time believe that the deities they call upon have the dominion in their hands.

A person should believe that only Allah is deserving of Tawheed Ar-Ruboobiyah, Uloohiyah, and Asmaa wa Sifat.

Although Allah forgave the sins of the Prophet ﷺ, he would invoke Allah saying:
O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your Religion
[At-Tirmithi]

And Ibrahim عليه السلام said in Surah Ibrahim [14:35]:

“And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said: "O my Lord! Make this city (Makkah) one of peace and security, and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.”

You should fear Shirk for yourself because you do not know how the hearts turn, especially when you are surrounded in a community who commits Shirk.

They used to invoke Allah in the day and night, then they would invoke the angels because of their righteousness and closeness to Allah, seeking their intercession.

Al-Laat was a man who used to mix dates with barley or wheat and ghee and give it to the pilgrims. When he died the polytheists worshipped and devoted themselves to his grave.

The Prophet ﷺ fought them for this type of Shirk (Shirk in worship). The reason behind all the battles of the Prophets and Companions wasn’t for this world or to enslave people, but for them to purify their worship to Allah alone and no one else.

Allah says in Surah Al-Jinn [72:18]:
“And the Masajid are for Allah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allah.”

المساجد is not limited to the Mosques; it includes every place you prostrate your head to Allah.

The Prophet ﷺ fought them in order for their supplication to only be for Allah, their sacrifice to only be for Allah, their Istighaathah to only be for Allah, and for all their acts of worship to be for Allah alone.

If you call someone who is present with you with something he is able to do, is it considered Shirk?
No. It becomes Shirk when you call someone who is absent or dead or with something no one can do except Allah. The Prophet ﷺ fought them to make them call Allah alone for their needs, and to vow only for Allah, and to sacrifice only for Allah, and to see deliverance from their distress (الاستغاثة) from Allah alone.

(Al-Isti’aanah) is at any time, whilst الاستغاثة (Al-Istighaathah) is particularly during the time of distress. If someone drowning calls a lifeguard to help him it’s not considered Shirk because the person is alive and able to him. But if he is in distress and he calls Ali or Husain to deliver him from it, it is considered Shirk.

If you slaughter a goat for the sake of entertaining a guest it is permissible. It becomes Shirk when you slaughter it in the name of other than Allah or for the sake of venerating or glorifying someone other than Allah (this varies from being prohibited to being Shirk).

This Shirk - where they directed their worship to Angels, Prophets, or Awliyaa, seeking their intercession and nearness to Allah -  made their wealth and blood lawful, this is why the Prophet ﷺ fought them.
