2 - The Name of Allah Al-Muhaymin - (29/9/19)

بِسْم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The Name of Allah: المهيمن

The Attribute implied by the name: الهيمنة
This attribute entails the perfect knowledge and ability of Allah, and His continuous management of the affairs of His creation.

Since Allah is Muhaymin over us, we should:
1) Be observant of Allah’s watchfulness over us by watching our hearts, utterances, actions and their congruity.
Allah said in the Qur’an:
“و ما الله بغافل عما تعملون”
“And Allah is not unaware of what you do”

We should watch our hearts.
E.g. بطر (Ungratefulness).
Whoever understands the reality of this worldly life will not become bored with the favours of Allah. This is because this world is based on tests and trials. It is a passing period of tests which will soon come to an end.
The Scholars called this world a بلغة منغصة - It is something by which one reaches the Hereafter, but it is full of bitterness. Everything in this world is stained with some type of bitterness.

If a person becomes bored with the blessings of Allah or feels that he is not in need of the blessing, he has been ungrateful to Allah. If people receive the favours of Allah with ungratefulness, the consequence will be that Allah will remove it.

These feelings enter the heart and come out in our utterances, and Allah Al-Muhaymin is aware of it. The heart earns (يكسب). It works and either gets reward or sin.
Allah said in Surah Al-Baqarah [2:225]:

لَّا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللَّهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِي أَيْمَانِكُمْ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَاخِذُكُم بِمَا كَسَبَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ
Allah will not call you to account for that which is unintentional in your oaths, but He will call you to account for that which your hearts have earned. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Forbearing.”

E.g. Sometimes you see a persons children misbehaving and you criticize them. Time passes and your children might do the same thing. When you criticize you have pride in your heart, you look down upon others, you feel conceited, etc. Allah knows and will not leave those feelings to pass; He may punish you in the Dunya prior to the Hereafter to make you realize.

One of the meanings of Al-Muhaymin is  المصدق - Allah proves the truthfulness of His Messengers and believing Slaves.

E.g. We often suspect innocent people and then Allah subjects someone to come and defend that person. How many of us repent to Allah after committing that sin which occurred in seconds?
Allah is Muhaymin over what is established in our hearts and shows us our evil thoughts in order that we ask Him to forgive us. And He is sees what is in the hearts and defends His believing slaves.

E.g. There is a strong believer and a weak believer. The strong believer takes all the means and nothing works so he entrusts his affairs completely to Allah. The weak believer questions how he can just trust Allah, and after time goes, Allah - - out of His هيمنة and تصديق - will cure the strong believer without means.

Allah gave Zakariya عليه السلام children with deficient means, and Maryam عليها السلام a child without a husband. Allah is Able. And Allah is Al-Muhaymin. He proved the truthfulness of the strong believer and nurtured and educated the weak believer to show him that Allah is Muhaymin over his heart.

Allah المهيمن knows and requites (يعلم و يجازي).

Note: These thoughts refer to evil thoughts which pass a persons mind that he does not repel. The thoughts which are not accountable are passing thoughts which do not establish themselves in the heart of a person.

2) Be Fearful of Allah and glorify Him.
If a person knows that Allah is watching his thoughts and actions and will requite him for it, it would make him fearful of Allah.

3) Fulfill the rights of everyone upon us
E.g. Teachers may give students in high-school their rights because they are afraid they might complain, but will treat small children however they want because they cannot complain. A person who believes in المهيمن will give everyone their rights.
