The Methodology of Seeking Knowledge
If you miss one stage or merge two stages into one it will show in your ability of comprehension.
1) مرحلة التأسيس
Learn the foundations first, ground yourself; don’t talk about what’s not in your level.
When you seek knowledge you are like a house that has holes in it. In order for the floor to be built you have to fill the house. What you fill won’t come to the surface yet so it won’t show, therefore no knowledge will be seen on you. When you pass this level things start emerging into the surface.
2) مرحلة التدليل
A person tries to find out the evidences now.
3) مرحلة علم المقارن
The person is able to compare ideas and views but he still can’t strengthen one opinion from another.
4) مرحلة تحرير
He is able to say this opinion is stronger than this opinion.
5) مرحلة التخصص
The person then specializes.
This stage is the stage which many people do it in the early stage. In the beginning of seeking knowledge you have to learn all the sciences, and all the sciences won’t feel the same. There will be a science that stands out to you and that is what you can specialize in. However that doesn’t mean you ignore all the other sciences.
How to benefit from the Scholars when they give Fatawa:
a) Have a perception on the issue.
To place a ruling on something you should be able to perceive it correctly.
b) Apply the correct ruling
c) See the differences and similarities between different issues. One difference can change the whole ruling.
d) Know the levels of the issues; which is the strongest and highest.
