The Name of Allah As-Salaam - Part 2 - (12/2/2017)

On the Day of Judgement, the balances will be set up and the deeds and faith of the person will be weighed. The stronger the faith of the person is, the heavier his balance will be. How much do you believe in Allah? - How much do you believe in His Wisdom? In His Nearness to us? In His Knowledge? How much do you believe in the Angels, the Day of Judgement, the Messengers, the Books? How much do you believe that there is no space the width of four fingers in the heavens but there is an Angel prostrating to Allah?

How much do you discuss the attributes of Allah with yourself? When it rains do you attribute it to the impact of Allah's Mercy? When you get provision do you attribute it to the impact of Allah's رزق? How much do you see the impacts of Allah's Attributes in your life? If you live this way, it means your faith is strong. It is important to learn more about Allah and believe the correct beliefs.

Evidences that Indicate the Importance of Faith

-> Allah mentioned that He will not accept the deeds of the hypocrites and disbelievers; on the Day of Judgement it will amount to nothing, because of their disbelief. This indicates that the most important thing with Allah is your belief in Him. If your belief in Allah is correct, your behavior and actions will be correct, and this will affect your scale on the Day of Judgement.

->

Abu Bakr bin Eyash said: Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه did not surpass the Ummah through a lot of prayer and fasting, but he surpassed with what was established in his heart (i.e. his تصديق, his belief.) [Manhaj As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyah]

-> The Prophet said:

"A man from my nation will be called before all of creation on the Day of Resurrection, and ninety-nine scrolls will be spread out for him, each one extending as far as the eye can see. Then Allah will say: “Do you deny anything of this?” He will say: “No, O Lord.” He will say: “Have My recording scribes been unfair to you?” Then He will say: “Apart from that, do you have any good deeds?” The man will be terrified and will say: “No.” (Allah) will say: “Indeed, you have good deeds with Us, and you will not be treated unjustly this Day.” Then a card will be brought out on which is written Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah wa anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasuluhu (I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger). He will say: “O Lord, what is this card compared with these scrolls?” He will say: “You will not be treated unjustly.” Then the scrolls will be placed in one side of the Balance and the card in the other. The scrolls will go up (i.e., be light) and the card will go down (i.e., will weigh heavily).” [Ibn Majah]

The لا اله الا الله of a person will benefit the person on the Day of Judgement. However, even the hypocrites say لا اله الا الله but do not believe in it. What will make your لا اله الا الله heavy on the scale? When you believe in it with certainty, sincerity, truthfulness, love, submission, acceptance.

When many become Muslims or upright after misguidance, they focus on the actions of the limbs whilst neglecting their faith in Allah. The Prophet said:

“Verily, the faith of one of you will diminish just as a shirt becomes worn out, so ask Allah to renew faith in your hearts.”[al-Mustadrak 5; Authentic according to Al-Albani]

Being born in a Muslim family does not guarantee that you will die a Muslim.

->

It was reported by Sa'eed Al-Khudri رضي الله عنه that the Prophet said: Musa عليه السلام asked Allah, "O Allah teach me a Dua I can remember you with"

Allah said, "O Musa, say لا اله الا الله"

He said, "Ya Rabb, all your slaves say لا اله الا الله". He wanted something special for him.

Allah said, "O Musa, if the seven heavens and the earth and all that exists in it were put in one pan of the scale, and لا اله الا الله on the other, لا اله الا الله would be heavier" [An-Nasaa'i, Ibn Hibban, and Al-Hakim]

The first condition of لا إله الا الله is Knowledge. And there are two types of Knowledge:

1- Superficial Knowledge

2- Detailed Knowledge

There are Muslims who have weak faith and Muslims who have perfect faith. This variation is due to their level of knowledge. The more you increase in knowledge, the more your faith will increase. Accordingly, your actions will be better, and your scale heavier on the Day of Judgement.

Do not compare yourself with anyone, not even your companion, because no one is equal in faith. Everyone has a different level of faith, and Allah deals with each person accordingly.

Live in this Dunya while your concern is to learn more about Allah and increase your faith in Him because you will meet Him one day and He will weigh your faith. Let this be your concern for yourself and for your children. Your children are your responsibility - Allah will ask you about them: Did you teach them about Allah? Did you teach them about the articles of faith?

The Name of Allah السلام

In Surah Al-Hashr, Allah mentioned about His Noble Self in 3 Verses. In [54:23]:

"He is Allah than Whom there is La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) the King, the Holy, the One Free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah! (High is He) above all that they associate as partners with Him."

Allah is الملك; He Judges, Commands, and owns everything in the world. He owns the upper world and lower world.

He is الملك القدوس - He is the Pure King; His Judgement and Commands are free of defects. He is Perfect. Humans beings have good and bad characteristics, as Allah says in Surah Ash-Shams [91:7-8]

"And by Nafs (Adam or a person or a soul, etc.), and Him Who perfected him in proportion;"

"Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him;"

Every human has wickedness in him and righteousness in him. Allah perfected our creation and put good characteristics and bad characteristics in us. We never can be قدوس; free of defects. The Prophet taught us a supplication:

No one should ascribe purity to himself. No one is pure, except Allah. And Allah is السلام, His Good Characters are perfect. But even our Good Characteristics our deficient. We may be generous and kind, but it is limited. We cannot extend it to everyone in the world.

When you look at Allah; His Good attributes are perfect and free of defects. His Mercy encompasses everything; even the animals and birds.

After knowing this piece of information; that Allah is الملك القدوس السلام - what impact should it have on us?

We expect all good from Allah. All His decrees and commands are good, full of wisdom, and full of mercy. Every event I go through is full of wisdom. In this way you live, because your Lord Allah is Your sickness is good, the prevention of money is good, the husband you have is good, the type of children you have is good. You realize how much we do not think good of Allah.

The Name of Allah السلام is a Comprehensive Name (اسم جامع). This means that it pertains to all of Allah's Attributes, like Allah's Name العظيم (The Great). It pertains to all of Allah's Attributes - Allah's Wisdom is Great, His Knowledge is Great, His Ability is Great, because He is the Great.

Similarly, Allah is سلام in all His Attributes. He is سلام in His Mercy, in His Judgement, in His Wisdom, etc.

-> Allah's Life

Allah's Life is سلام from death, of fatigue touching Him, of Him needing to rest.

-> Allah's قيومية

Allah's Name القيوم means that Allah stands in charge of all creation, disposing their affairs, while He is Self-Sufficient. He is Self-Subsisting; while He subsists the entire creation. He is Rich in Himself; all the creation are in need Him, while He is in need of no one. It is by His permission that every moving creature moves. It is by His permission that every silent creation stays silent. It is by His permission that the fire burns. It is by His permission that the winds blow. It is by His permission that the clouds send down rain. It is by His permission that blood flows through our veins. It is by His permission that our hearts beat. And He is Able to stop giving permission to our hearts to beat. Allah's قيومية and ability is سلام from fatigue touching Him, from incapacity, or from anything causing Him to fail. Nothing can repel the command of Allah. His قيومية is سلام from weakness, fatigue, failure.

-> Allah's Knowledge

Allah is attributed with Perfect Knowledge. Allah's Knowledge is سلام from forgetfulness, from a need for a reminder, from time needed to think. When humans want to decide a matter they need time to think, information,  consultants, whilst Allah's Knowledge is free of all these deficiencies. He disposes the affairs of the creation with Perfect Knowledge, without need of reminder, of thinking, of information, etc. His Knowledge is Perfect. It encompasses the past, the present, the future. Humans do not know the future; we do not even know what will happen after a minute or an hour, and yet Allah Knows. Nothing escapes Allah's Knowledge; He Knows about everything in detail.

-> Allah's Will (إرادة الله)

If Allah Wills something, He just says, "Be" and it is. His Will is based on Wisdom and Knowledge. Nothing can repel the Will of Allah. Whatever He wills will happen, whatever He wills not will never happen. His Will is سلام of being void of wisdom, of Him doing anything for His own interest. He is Rich and does not need to do anything for His own interest, unlike us. This creates satisfaction in your heart.

-> Allah's Words (كلمات الله)

 We have to affirm the attribute of Speech to Allah. Allah speaks with whatever He wills, whenever He wills. Allah's Speech is of two kinds:

1) كلمات شرعية - Legal Words; What Allah inspired to the Messengers of Commands and Prohibitions

Universal Words; What Allah decrees in the Universe. In Surah Ya-Sin [36:82]:

"Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, "Be!" and it is!"

Allah said in Surah Al-Kahf that His Words will never come to an end [in 18:109]:

"Say (O Muhammad to mankind). "If the sea were ink for (writing) the Words of my Lord, surely, the sea would be exhausted before the Words of my Lord would be finished, even if we brought (another sea) like it for its aid."

Allah's Speech is one of His attributes; and we can never encompass the attributes of Allah.

Allah's Words are سلام from lies. They are سلام from oppression. The Quran is the Speech of Allah and it is the truth and just, as Allah described it in Surah Al-An'am [6:115]:

"And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can change His Words. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower."

Do not think that there is oppression in the decrees of Allah; when He says "Be" and it is.

-> The Richness of Allah

Allah is Self-Sufficient; Rich in His Self. Everything is in need of Allah, and He needs no one. His Richness is سلام from need. He does not need food, drink, rest.

-> Allah's Kingdom

Allah's Kingdom is سلام from having a partner with Him in His Dominion, or an opponent, supporter, helper, intercessor. The Kings of this world need intercessors between them and the people, whereas Allah Knows about everything that happens in His Dominion; He does not need anyone to inform Him.

When we own something in our house, which is our own mini dominion, people will suggest things which need to be done. No one can suggest changes in Allah's Kingdom.

-> The Divinity of Allah

Allah is سلام in His divinity. He is سلام from having or needing to have another god with Him. He is the only true God. لا إله إلا الله - No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah.

-> The Forgiveness, Forebearing, Pardoning of Allah

The forgiveness of Allah is سلام from need of others or being done out of humility. It is out of the mere Generosity, Bounty, and Benifence of Allah.

E.g. When children grow up and become strong and indepent, then wrong their parents, their parents may overlook their mistakes, because they are weak and in need of their children. They are afraid that their children will leave them alone. They need their children to support them and be there with them when they become sick. This is why they forgive them. And the children think they are right and their parents are wrong. We have to be careful with our parents, especially when they become old. When they become old, they will behave like children. You have to understand them. Do not even say "Uff" to them.

Most of the time, when any human forgives another, it is because he needs something, or because he is inferior to the other and has no strength to fight him. Allah's forgiveness is سلام from this. If He forgives, He forgives out of His mere Beneficence, Favour, Might, and Power. Eesa عليه السلام said in Surah Al-Maa'idah [5:118]:

"If You punish them, they are Your slaves, and if You forgive them, verily You, only You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."

This verse is mentioned in the context of the Day of Judgement. In the previous verses:

"And (remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): "O 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say unto men: 'Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah?' " He will say: "Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my inner-self though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the All-Knower of all that is hidden and unseen."

"Never did I say to them aught except what You (Allah) did command me to say: 'Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.' And I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them, but when You took me up, You were the Watcher over them, and You are a Witness to all things. (This is a great admonition and warning to the Christians of the whole world)."

Then Eesa عليه السلام will say:

"If You punish them, they are Your slaves, and if You forgive them, verily You, only You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."

He did not say, "Because you are Merciful". Allah can punish them if He wants, and if He forgives them it is not out of humility, it is out of His Power and Honour. When Allah forgives us, it is not because He is need of us. He forgives us out of His great Honour and Power. And He is Wise; He will not punish those who deserve forgiveness, nor will He forgive those who deserve punishment. Allah puts everyone in his right place. This is what we need to understand about Allah, and this is what Eesa عليه السلام understood about Allah's Forgiveness.

-> The Punishment of Allah

Even the punishment of Allah is سلام. His revenge, severe seizure, swift punishment are سلام from oppression, harshness, strictness, or done out of gratification of desire. When human being punish wrongdoers, they punish because they want to satisfy their desire. They want to take revenge of the wrong the other person has done. Human beings are also quick in punishment, because they are afraid of the person escaping. When Allah punishes, He is not afraid of anyone escaping from Him, because they are all in His Dominion; in His Grasp. But He is forebearing, and gives them respite, in order for them to repent. But if they do not desist from sin, He will punish them, and no one can run away from Allah.

If Allah punishes certain people, this punishment does not contradict the Name of Allah السلام. Because His punishment is free of oppression; they deserve it. Allah is All-Wise when He punishes the wrongdoers and oppressors. There is good in His punishmen for the wrongdoer and for the rest of the people. When Allah punishes the wrongdoer, he will desist from sin, the people will be saved from his evil, and the righteous will be at rest and remain firm on their righteousness.

It is contrary to Allah's Wisdom to leave the wrongdoers and oppressors without punishment. In life, you find people who kill innocent, devour the money of the people wrongly, and they may die without any punishment afflicting them. And you know that Allah is السلام - do you think that they have escaped from the punishment of Allah by their death? Never. There is a punishment waiting for them on the Day of Judgement. If they do not receive their punishment in this world, they will surely receive it on the Day of Judgement. Allah will punish them sooner or later. Whenever you see a delay in punishment, do not doubt in Allah's Punishment.

In the beginning of Surah Saba [34:1], Allah said:

"All the praises and thanks be to Allah, to Whom belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. His is all the praises and thanks in the Hereafter, and He is the AllWise, the AllAware."

Allah started this Surah with "الحمد لله" as an indication that everything you will read after that in this Surah tells you why Allah deserves praise.

"و له الحمد في الآخرة"

As-Sa'di رحمه الله said in his explanation of this verse that when Allah judges between people with His justice, even the people of Hell will say الحمد لله. Their hearts will be filled with praise of Allah, because they have seen and witnessed the wisdom and justice of Allah.

The people of Paradise will say الحمد لله when they enter Paradise and when they see the favours of Allah, the delights of Allah, the blessings of Allah. Allah will give them whatever they wish.

When Allah judges among the people on the Day of Judgement, His Name السلام will appear to all of the creation.

-> Allah's Decrees

Whatever Allah ordains and decrees is سلام from play (عبث), oppression, from contradicting wisdom. We are living the Qadar of Allah daily. His Qadar descends upon us day and night. But how do we deal with the Qadar of Allah, especially when we need something?

E.g. You need a book, pen, or food and look for it but cannot find it. Tomorrow you find it. The first thing that comes to our mind is: "When I need it, I do not find it. When I do not need it, I find it"

The Qadar of Allah is سلام from play. When you need it, Allah is testing your patience. And when you get it, Allah is testing your gratitude. But we think bad of Allah before showing patience and gratitude. Allah is not playing nor oppressing us. All His Qadar is سلام of oppression and mistakes. All Allah's Qadar good.

The human is deficient in his thoughts, and the Shaytan may make him think bad about Allah. And thinking bad about Allah (سوء الظن بالله) is a Major Sin.

E.g. People criticize the changes in weather, thinking that the Qadar of Allah is play.

When Allah deprives us from something, we think that we deserve more, and that Allah has been unjust to us.

Allah knew what was going to happen and wrote everything in the Preserved Tablet 50,000 years before the creation of the heavens and earth. And now everything happens by the Will of Allah. He says, "Be" and it is, as a test for us. How will we receive the Qadar of Allah? Many people do not understand this, so they say: "Why am I suffering all the time? Why don't I have children? Why I am I single?" We are always comparing ourselves to others and are unhappy, because we do not believe that Allah is سلام in His Qadar.

Whatever is happening now is all tests. If you pass the tests with Allah in this life, you will receive all what you want on the Day of Judgement. If you do not have a husband in this life, you will have a perfect husband in Paradise. If you do not have children, you can have there. That is where our life is. Allah said in Surah Al-Fajr [89:24]:

"He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!"

Our real life is after our death. This life is not a real life; it is a vanishing life. You will not get everything you desire, like, and wish for. You may be afflicted with affliction, poverty, sickness, because this is the life of this world. This world is deficient. Paradise is دار السلام - The abode of peace, soundness, free of deficiencies. Everything Allah decrees us in this life are tests; we have to struggle and ask Allah to help us pass these tests, in order that we are admitted into Paradise.

Although repeat this Name daily when we greet others, and after our prayer, our belief in this Name is very weak. This is due to the Shaytan who whispers profusely regarding the decrees.

-> The Religion and Laws of Allah

Allah's Laws and Religion are سلام from contradiction, inconsistencies, discrepancies, confusion, from being void of wisdom. All His laws fullill the needs of human, are full of wisdom and benefit for humans, and are full of justice and kindness.

Some people defame the law of Allah, saying that it is not applicable to our century. They say it only applies to when people travelled on camels, and now that we travel with planes, the laws related to traveling have no more value. This is defamation of the knowledge of Allah - that He does not know what will happen after 1400 times, and did not set laws applicable to all times. Allah's Knowledge is سلام, and His Religion and Laws are سلام.

E.g. Feminists say that women in Islam are oppressed, although you will not find a Religion that respects women more than Islam. You will not find a Religious Book which has a chapter titled "النساء" (The Women), except for the Quran. Feminists want women to be like the man. But our strength and form is not like the man at all. We have responsibilities suitable to our nature, and they have responsibilities suitable to their nature. When you ask women to be equal to a man, you are being unjust to the woman.

They ask: Why does man get double the inheritance of a woman?

Whatever a woman earns is for her self, whereas the man has to spend on himself, on his wife, on his children, on his sisters if they are not married. No one has to force you to spend anything. But if a man does not spend, he will be responsible on the Day of Judgement.

Islam is a Perfect Religion. It came compatible with our فطرة (Natural Disposition). It is not a difficult religion at all.

A female judge in England had lots of cases of divorce. When she studied the Islamic law regarding divorce and marriage, she embraced Islam, saying it is a perfect law which gives women their rights. When you study the laws of Islam, you will know that Allah ordained a perfect religion for you. You should be proud that your Religion is Islam.

If someone comes you with doubts about the laws of Allah, it is not your responsibility to refute them. Focus on your belief and say that you believe Allah is السلام and that His Religion and Laws are سلام.  If the person is truthful, Allah will guide them. But there are those who ask just to raise doubts. You want to keep your faith and belief in Allah correct until you meet Him.
