Supplication to say when you are scared of the Shayateen from Mankind or Jinn - (27/11/16)

Whenever you are afraid of the Shayateen, whether they are from man or devils, someone trying to harm you, or have nightmares, invoke Allah with this supplication.

The Prophet ﷺ also taught it Khalid Ibn Waleed, who would frequently get up afraid at night and grab his sword. He complained to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Shall I teach you something which Jibreel taught me?" And he taught him this supplication.

This is a very powerful Dua, because of what it consists of meaning.

I seek refuge with the (Perfect) Words of Allah

The Qur'an
The Speech by which Allah Creates and brings everything into existence.

All Allah's Commands are كلمات.

And the Speech of Allah is one of the Attributes of Allah; You are thus seeking refuge in one of Allah's Attributes.

(Perfect)
The Perfect, Blessed, Healing, Beneficial Words

Which no righteous nor unrighteous person can transgress

What are you seeking refuge in?

From the evil of what Allah Created

This does not mean Allah's creation is evil. You are seeking refuge from the evil of every creation of Allah.
The creation of Allah includes Jinn, Men, Humans, Animals, Insects, Fire, Air, etc. You are asking Allah to protect you from every creation which has evil

Spread on the surface of the earth

Created

From the evil that descends from the sky
What could be sent from the sky? Punishments, thunderbolts, etc.

From the Evil that ascends to the heavens

Everything that descends to earth and comes out

From the evil of all the Fitnah that happen in the day and night.

From the evil of every visitor that comes at night.

Except a visitor who comes with good.

O Ar-Rahman
With Allah's Mercy you will attain every good, and will be protected from every evil. By His Mercy He Brought us into existence, Guides us, Heals us, Repels evil from us. His mercy encompasses all the  creation.
If you say it while understanding the meaning, you will be protected from the Devils, as the Prophet ﷺ said.

Ibn Baz رحمه الله mentioned this supplication as a means of protection from magic and magicians. From among the means of protection are:
1) Asking Allah for Aafiyah (Wellbeing)
2) Seeking Refuge with Allah every Morning and Evening:

From other means of safety: Reciting the Three Quls three times in the morning and evening.

3) Increase in remembering Allah by reciting the Qur'an.
4) Reciting the following supplication:

These are all protection from every evil whether evil of the Jinn or Humans or other creation. We are falling into shortcomings regarding this, this is why many people are afflicted. This is also good for Waswaas, because the source of the Waswaas is the Shaytan. We should seek the means of protection and teach it to our children.
