#12:

And from them (the effects of sins): The removal of hatred of the sin from the heart, until it becomes a habit. So he does not hate for people to see his sin, or to talk about it.

If a person persists in sin, the ugliness of the sin will be removed from his heart. Tyrants commit so many sins, but they enjoy their sins, and do not consider it something embarrassing if people know and talk about it.

And this is the case of the worst of the people of disobedience, who have the highest level of shamelessness and complete enjoyment (when committing sins), until one of them boasts about his sins, and says to the person who does not know he committed it, "O So-And-So, I did Such-And-Such"

As the Prophet ﷺ said, "All the sins of my followers will be pardoned except those of the Mujahirin (those who commit a sin openly or disclose their sins to the people). An example of such disclosure is that a person commits a sin at night and though Allah screens it from the public, then he comes in the morning, and says, 'O so-and-so, I did such-and-such (evil) deed yesterday,' though he spent his night screened by his Lord (none knowing about his sin) and in the morning he removes Allah's screen from himself." [Bukhari #6069]

#13:

And from them: Every sin committed is an inheritance of the sin of a nation from the nations Allah destroyed.

All the sins are an inheritance from someone who did it first.

-> So committing sodomy is of the inheritance of the People of Lut عليه السلام
-> And taking more of your rights and giving less to others is from the inheritance of the People of Shu'ayb عليه السلام
-> And exalting oneself in the land with corruption is an inheritance of the People of Pharoah.
Although Pharoah was the tyrant, because others were quiet about it, accepted it, and made him Pharoah, they are included.
-> And arrogance and tyranny are an inheritance of the People of Hud عليه السلام.

So the sinner wears the clothes of some of these nations, and they are enemies of Allah.
And we want to to wear the clothing of Taqwa, as Allah says in Surah Al-A'raf [7:26]:

"O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness - that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember."

#14:

And from them: Sins are a cause of humiliation for the slave with His Lord and result in falling (in degrees) from the Eyes of Allah.

In Surah Al-Isra'a [17:70]:

"And indeed We have honoured the Children of Adam, and We have carried them on land and sea, and have provided them with At-Taiyibat (lawful good things), and have preferred them above many of those whom We have created with a marked preference."

Allah honoured us by subjecting everything for us, by sending Messengers, Books, by giving us a choice. But when a person does not perform what Allah wants him to do, and on top of that disbelieves, disobeys Allah, and commits sins, this position Allah already gave you goes down. And when your position goes down, you deserve to go to the Hellfire.

Al-Hasan Al-Basri said, "They commit sins because they are humiliated. For if they had some value, Allah would have protected them from sin. And if anyone is humiliated in the eyes of Allah, none can grant him honour. As Allah says in Surah AlHajj [22:18]:

'And whomsoever Allah disgraces, none can honour him.'"

And even if the people outwardly magnify a person, it is because of their need of him or fear of his evil, although in their hearts he may be the most humiliated worthless thing

What can protect you from committing sins? By not disobeying Allah in the first place. You need to maintain your honour; the position Allah gave you.

Allah gives us chances when we commit sins, but when we get used to them, and they become a habit, we will lose our value. And do not be deceived if people outwardly magnify you, they may do so, but you may mean absolutely nothing in their hearts. You cannot base your worth on peoples outward magnification of you.

#18
And from them: Sins corrupt the Mind
For the mind is a light, and sins extinguish the minds light. And when its light is extinguished it becomes weak and deficient.

Your mind is your logic, what you use to judge right from wrong. Something may be appealing to you, but your mind will not allow you to do it, because its not good for you.

And some of the Salaf said, "No one disobeys Allah except that his mind is absent"

Sins are like alcohol, which covers the brain. When you commit sins, your mind is not working.

#19:

And from them: Sins, when they become plenty, cover the heart of their companion, and he will be one of the heedless, as some of the Salaf said regarding Allah's saying in Surah Al-Mutafiffeen [83:14]:

"Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn."

They said: It is sin after a sin

The covering of the heart disables the heart from choosing what is right for it, and this is because of the sins you commit. Do not underestimate any small sin you commit, because it will disable the intellect.
