The Consequence of Sins on the Previous Nations

You need to know fore sure that there is no doubt that sins harm a person. They harm the heart just as poison harms the body, depending on their degree.

Small sins affect the heart to a small degree, whereas big sins affect the heart to bigger extent. And the worst of all sins is Shirk; it kills the heart because it disables the heart from its purpose. Allah created the heart to worship Him alone.

And does not any evil or sickness in the Dunya or Hereafter afflict us except due to a sin?
Any problem, sickness, or harm we face is due to our sins and disobedience to Allah.

For what caused our parents to be expelled from Paradise, the place of delight and pleasure and happiness, to the place of pain, sorrow, grief, and calamity?

And what removed Iblis from the Kingdom of the Heavens and incur the curse of Allah?
The more you elevate in ranks, the more you need to maintain your position with Allah.

So his outside and inside became evil, so his picture became the most ugly picture, and his inside is uglier than his outside.
Whenever you talk about Iblis, we immediately imagine an ugly picture.

And what caused all the inhabitants of the earth to drown until the water became high as mountains?

This is regarding the people of Nuh عليه السلام. Everyone, save those on the Ship, drowned.

And what caused the wind to be assigned on the People of Ad until it threw their bodies on the earth as if they were hollow trunks of tree. It destroyed their land, cattle, farms, and everything they had, until they became an admonition for nations until the Day of Judgement?

And what caused an awful cry to destroy Thamud until it cut their hearts into pieces and all of them died?

And what caused a cloud of punishment to be sent to the People of Shua'yb until it was over their heads and struck them with fire?

The punishments vary from water, to a cry, to clouds, to a cry. Water is a means of life for one, and a cause of destruction for others. Not every cloud has rain. Allah is able to change the properties of His creation.

What caused Pharoah and his people to drown and their souls to go straight to Hellfire; so their bodies drown, while their souls are in Hellfire?

And what caused Qarun to sink to the earth with his house, money, and family?

And what caused the destroyal of the nations after Nuh عليه السلام with various types of punishment?

And what destroyed the people of the Companion of Ya-Sin with a cry?

And what caused Bani Israeel to be oppressed with arrogant tyrants? So they went into their towns, killed the men, took the women as prisoners, burned everything, took all their money. Then Allah sent these arrogant tyrants a second time

In [17:5]:

"So, when the promise came for the first of the two, We sent against you slaves of Ours given to terrible warfare. They entered the very innermost parts of your homes. And it was a promise (completely) fulfilled."

And [17:7]:

"(And We said): "If you do good, you do good for your ownselves, and if you do evil (you do it) against yourselves." Then, when the second promise came to pass, (We permitted your enemies) to make your faces sorrowful and to enter the mosque (of Jerusalem) as they had entered it before, and to destroy with utter destruction all that fell in their hands."

Oppressors are sent upon us because of our wrongdoing. Allah wants to reform us. We should learn from the first time and admit our sickness.

And what sent various punishments, sometimes with killing, destruction, oppression from kings, etc.

Nowadays we do not have total destruction, but it comes in forms of calamities.
