بِسْم الله الرحمن الرحيم

-> Surah Qaf comes after Surah Al-Hujurat
-> Surah Al-Hujurat is a Madaniyyah Surah, and is about the Foundations for building a Muslim Community.
-> Surah Qaf is a Makiyyah Surah. The verses in Makiyyah Surahs are usually short, emphasize Tawheed, the Resurrection, and the truthfulness of the Message. This is because the disbelievers believed in Allah, but associated partners with Him, and did not believe in resurrection.
The Virtues of Surah Qaf
Amra daughter of Abd al-Rahman reported on the authority of the sister of Amra: "I memorised (surah) "Qaf, by the glorious Qur'an" from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on Friday for he recited it on the pulpit on every Friday." [Muslim]
This shows us the importance of the Surah. The Prophet ﷺ would repeat it every Friday in his Khutbah.
Ibn Kathir mentioned that the Prophet ﷺ used to recite Surah Qaf on Friday, during Eid, and during the gatherings of the Muslims. This is because the Surah talks about the beginning of creation, the end (the resurrection, The Day of Judgement, Paradise, Hell, the Groups of People, etc.), the Perfect Attributes of Allah, etc.
Ibn AlQayyim said this Surah covers all the Pillars of Faith.
The Pillars of Faith in the Surah
Allah said in [9:124]:
"And whenever there comes down a Surah (chapter from the Quran), some of them (hypocrites) say: "Which of you has had his Faith increased by it?" As for those who believe, it has increased their Faith, and they rejoice."
Pillar #1 - Belief in Allah
Verse 4:
"We know that which the earth takes of them (their dead bodies), and with Us is a Book preserved (i.e. the Book of Decrees)."
"علمنا" - This is an Action of Allah (If it is in verb form, it is an action of Allah). Allah knows what the earth takes of our bodies when we die.
Verse 6:
"Have they not looked at the heaven above them, how We have made it and adorned it, and there are no rifts in it?"
"بنيناها"
"زيّنّاها"
These are two actions of Allah. He is the One who built the heavens above us and adorned it for us.
Verse 7:
"And the earth! We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and have produced therein every kind of lovely growth (plants)."
"مددناها"
"ألقينا"
"أنبتنا'
These are three actions of Allah. Allah spread the earth, created the mountains, and planted the plants.
Verse 9:
"And We send down blessed water (rain) from the sky, then We produce therewith gardens and grain (every kind of harvests) that are reaped."
"نزّلنا"
"أنبتنا"
These are two actions of Allah. Allah is the One who sent down the rain. We say that the rain is falling, but one of the manners of the believers with Allah is that they say, "Allah is sending down the rain".
And Allah is the One who made plants grow.
Verse 11:
"A provision for (Allah's) slaves. And We give life therewith to a dead land. Thus will be the resurrection (of the dead)."
"أحيينا"
Allah is the One who gives life.
Verse 15:
"Were We then tired with the first creation? Nay, They are in confused doubt about a new creation (i.e. Resurrection)?"
"أفعيينا"
This is a negated attribute of Allah. When there is a negated attribute, we negate it and affirm the opposite Perfect Attribute to Allah. Allah does not get tired because He has Perfect Ability.
E.g. In Aayat Al-Kursi, Allah says:
"...Neither slumber, nor sleep overtake Him..."
Allahs Life is perfect; He does not sleep.
Verse 16:
"And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge)."
"خلقنا"
Allah is the only One who created you. That is why His right is to be worshipped alone.
"نعلم"
Allah knows what your self whispers in you.
"نحن أقرب"
This is one of the attributes of Allah, from His Name القريب. Allah is Near.
Saleh عليه السلام said to his people in [11:16]
"And to Thamud (people, We sent) their brother Salih (Saleh). He said: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (God) but Him. He brought you forth from the earth and settled you therein, then ask forgiveness of Him and turn to Him in repentance. Certainly, my Lord is Near (to all by His Knowledge), Responsive."
Verse 22:
"It will be said to the sinners): "Indeed you were heedless of this, now We have removed your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day!"
"فكشفنا"
The disbelievers and sinners live in this life with a covering in front of their eyes. Allah will remove this covering on the Day of Judgement. Ask Allah to grant you بصيرة (insight), where you are able to see the hereafter before you reach it in the future.
Verse 26:
"Who set up another ilah (god) with Allah, then (both of you) cast him in the severe torment."
"الله"
Verse 27:
"His companion (Satan devil)] will say: "Our Lord! I did not push him to transgress, (in disbelief, oppression, and evil deeds) but he was himself in error far astray."
"ربّنا"
Verse 28:
"Allah will say: "Dispute not in front of Me, I had already, in advance, sent you the threat."
"قال" - Allah speaks.
Verse 29:
"The Sentence that comes from Me cannot be changed, and I am not unjust (to the least) to the slaves."
"قول"
"ظلام العبيد" - This is a negated Attribute. Allah is not Unjust to His slaves; He is the Most Just.
Verse 30:
"On the Day when We will say to Hell: "Are you filled?" It will say: "Are there any more (to come)?"
"نقول"
Verse 32:
"(It will be said): "This is what you were promised, - (it is) for those oft-returning (to Allah) in sincere repentance, and those who preserve their covenant with Allah"
"توعدون" - Allah promised you Paradise, if you worship Him alone and no one else.
Verse 33:
"Who feared the Most Beneficent (Allah) in the Ghaib (unseen): (i.e. in this worldly life before seeing and meeting Him), and brought a heart turned in repentance (to Him - and absolutely free from each and every kind of polytheism),"
"الرحمن"
Verse 36:
"And how many a generation We have destroyed before them, who were stronger in power than them, and (when Our Torment came) they ran for a refuge in the land! Could they find any place of refuge (for them to save themselves from destruction)?"
"أهلكنا" - Allah destroyed the disbelievers.
Verse 38:
"And indeed We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six Days and nothing of fatigue touched Us."
"ما مسّنا من لُغُوب" - This is a negated Attribute proving the complete and perfect Ability of Allah.
Verse 39:
"So bear with patience (O Muhammad ﷺ) all that they say, and glorify the Praises of your Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting (i.e. the Fajr, Zuhr, and 'Asr prayers)."
"ربك"
Verse 43:
"Verily, We it is Who give life and cause death; and to Us is the final return,"
"نحي"
"نميت"
These are the actions of Allah. Allah is the One who gives life and causes death.
Verse 44:
"On the Day when the earth shall be cleft, from off them, (they will come out) hastening forth. That will be a gathering, quite easy for Us."
"علينا يسير" - The gathering is very easy for Allah.
Verse 45:
"We know of best what they say; and you (O Muhammad ﷺ) are not a tyrant over them (to force them to Belief). But warn by the Quran, him who fears My Threat."
"أعلم" - This is an Attribute of Allah, indicating Allahs Perfect Knowledge.
Pillar #2 - Belief in the Angels
Verse 17:
"(Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions)."
Verse 18:
"Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it)."
Verse 21:
"And every person will come forth along with an (angel) to drive (him), and an (angel) to bear witness."
Verse 23:
"And his companion (angel) will say: "Here is (this Record) ready with me!"
Pillar #3 - Belief in the Books
Verse 1:
"Qaf. [These letters (Qaf, etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Glorious Quran."
Verse 5:
"Nay, but they have denied the truth (this Quran) when it has come to them, so they are in a confused state (can not differentiate between right and wrong)."
Verse 45:
"We know of best what they say; and you (O Muhammad ﷺ) are not a tyrant over them (to force them to Belief). But warn by the Quran, him who fears My Threat."
Pillar #4 - Belief in the Messengers
Verse 2:
"Nay, they wonder that there has come to them a warner (Muhammad ﷺ) from among themselves. So the disbelievers say: "This is a strange thing!"
Verse 12:
"Denied before them (i.e. these pagans of Makkah who denied you, O Muhammad ﷺ) the people of Nuh (Noah), and the dwellers of Rass, and the Thamud"
Verse 39:
"So bear with patience (O Muhammad ﷺ) all that they say, and glorify the Praises of your Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting (i.e. the Fajr, Zuhr, and 'Asr prayers)."
Verse 41:
"And listen on the Day when the caller will call from a near place"
Verse 45:
"We know of best what they say; and you (O Muhammad ﷺ) are not a tyrant over them (to force them to Belief). But warn by the Quran, him who fears My Threat."
Pillar #5 - Belief in the Last Day
Verse 11:
"A provision for (Allah's) slaves. And We give life therewith to a dead land. Thus will be the resurrection (of the dead)."
Verse 15:
"Were We then tired with the first creation? Nay, They are in confused doubt about a new creation (i.e. Resurrection)?"
Verses 19 to 34
Verses 41 to 45
Pillar #6 - Belief in the Qadar
The Qadar is made up of four ranks:
1) Knowledge of Allah
2) Writing
3) The Will of Allah
4) Creation
Verse 4:
"We know that which the earth takes of them (their dead bodies), and with Us is a Book preserved (i.e. the Book of Decrees)."
Verse 16:
"And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge)."
Verse 38:
"And indeed We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six Days and nothing of fatigue touched Us."
Verse 45:
"We know of best what they say; and you (O Muhammad ﷺ) are not a tyrant over them (to force them to Belief). But warn by the Quran, him who fears My Threat."
