8-12-1437
Verse 56:
"The sovereignty on that Day will be that of Allah (the one Who has no partners). He will judge between them. So those who believed (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and did righteous good deeds will be in Gardens of delight (Paradise)."
"الملك يومئذ لله"
On the Day of Judgement, the Dominion and Kingship will belong to Allah and no one else. In this world you see so many Owners and Kings, whereas on the Day of Judgement:
"The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)"
"يحكم بينهم"
After Allah mentioned the different groups of people, He speaks in general. No matter what group you are in during this life, the Dominion belongs to Allah on the Day of Judgement, and He will judge between you all.
Allah then mentions the two groups all people will be divided into and their recompense:
1) "فالذين ءامنوا و عملوا الصالحات"
Those who believed + did righteous deeds. Allah is the One who guides those who believe. You need to believe in Allah in order for Him to guide you. And they proved their belief by performing righteous actions.
"في جّنّات النّعيم"
Their recompense will be Gardens of Delight. And this includes all types of delight: The delights of the heart, the soul, and the body.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Allah said, "I have prepared for My righteous slaves (such excellent things) as no eye has ever seen, nor an ear has ever heard nor a human heart can ever think of.'" [Bukhari]
Verse 57:
"And those who disbelieved and belied Our Verses (of this Quran), for them will be a humiliating torment (in Hell)."
As for those who disbelieved and belied the Verses; those who covered the truth by denying the Ayaat of Allah - which is a guidance to the truth.
"فأولآئك لهم عذاب مّهين"
Their recompense will be a humiliating punishment. This shows us that they were arrogant in this life.
The punishment does not just burn the skin, it extends to the heart of the person, as Allah said in [104:7]:
"Which leaps up over the hearts,"
Verse 58:
"Those who emigrated in the Cause of Allah and after that were killed or died, surely, Allah will provide a good provision for them. And verily, it is Allah Who indeed is the Best of those who make provision."
When you believe in Allah, Allah will guide you to do the best of the deeds. With whatever you are going through in your life, your goal is One: Allah.
"والذين هاجروا في سبيل الله"
Those believers, who did righteous good deeds, who emigrated from the land of Kufr to the land of Islam as a protection for their religion.
In the previous verses Allah mentioned Jihad and Hajj. In this verse Allah mentions the Hijrah. These are all types of struggling for the sake of Allah.
The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said to ‘Amr ibn Al-‘Aas رضى اللّهُ عنه : “Do you not know that Islam effaces all the (previous) misdeeds, Hijrah effaces all the (previous) misdeeds, and also Hajj effaces all the (previous) misdeeds?” [Muslim]
When you stay in disbelieving countries, spending there, studying there, you are giving victory to the disbelievers. But when you make Hijrah, you are investing in Muslim countries and helping the Muslim society. We should be loyal to our Religion.
"ثمّ قتلوا أو ماتوا"
Then they were either killed or they died.
"ليرزقنّهم الله رزقاً حسناً"
Allah would surely provide for them a good provision, in their graves and on the Day of Judgement. If this is the case of the one who performed Hijrah and died, then how about the one who performed Hijrah for the sake of Allah and is alive? This is an assurance that if you do or give up anything for Allah, Allah will surely give you a better provision. But you need to believe in the promise of Allah.
"و إنّ الله لهو خير الرّازقين"
And Allah is surely the best of who provides.
Verse 59:
"Truly, He will make them enter an entrance with which they shall be well-pleased, and verily, Allah indeed is All-Knowing, Most Forbearing."
"ليذخلنّهم مّذخلا يرضونه"
From the provision is that Allah will surely make them enter an entry where they will be pleased - in the hereafter. Allah will make them enter Paradise.
Hajj teaches you to leave your house and comfort for the sake of Allah. You become a slave moving from one place to another. We need to live like this in our lives; We need to make Hijrah from what Allah hates to what Allah loves, from leaving sins to performing good deeds.
Allah promised victory when He mentioned Jihad. And He promised a provision for those who make Hijrah. If you leave your desires for the sake of Allah, Allah will definitely give you a better provision.
Verse 60:
"That is so. And whoever has retaliated with the like of that which he was made to suffer, and then has again been wronged, Allah will surely help him. Verily! Allah indeed is Oft-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving."
"ذالك" - (That)
This is mentioned a lot in Surah AlHajj.
"و من عاقب بمثل ما عوقب به"
If someone transgressed against you, you are not blamed for retaliating with the like. However if you retaliate with more than what that person did to you, you become the oppressor.
"ثمّ بغي عليه لينصرنّه الله"
If after you retaliate equally and the matter has already been settled, but then again are wronged, Allah will surely help you. The victory is closer to the oppressed person than the oppressor.
So much unfairness could happen in Hijrah and life. But it is important to remember that you cannot retaliate with something worse than what the person did to you, because you will end up becoming the oppressor, and Allah will help the other person against you. There are boundaries for everything.
"إن الله لعفوا غفور"
Allah is Oft-Pardoning, Forgiving. If you have been treated unfairly, the best option is to pardon, overlook, and forgive people, so that Allah deals with you with His pardoning and forgiveness. We need this in Hajj, Hijrah, and in our lives. Your focus is not taking your rights, but your قصد إلى الله.
Verse 61:
"That is because Allah merges the night into the day, and He merges the day into the night. And verily, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Seer."
"ذالك"
Allah set all the rules and commandments and what is mentioned previously
"بأنّ الله يولج الّيل في النّهار و يولج النّهار في الّيل"
because He is the One who merges the night into day and the day into night. When one increases, the other decreases. This is what we see in life; Allah made everything balanced.
"و أنّ الله سميع بصير"
And verily Allah is the All-Hearer and All-Seer. He Hears all the sounds, languages, and needs. He Sees everything; He Sees the smallest blank ant on a black rock in the darkness of the night. He Sees its veins and the blood and food inside its body. If He sees this ant, then what about humans?
Allah sees the changes - He hears and sees you in the day and night, when you are transferred from one situation to another. You are under the Hearing and Seeing of Allah. You need to be cautious of your utterances, actions, movements of your heart, and thinking, becomes sometimes with changes we react wrongly.
People argue when they get used to a matter and it changes. But when you know that Allah brings day and night perfectly, He also brings the decrees in a beautiful, subtle way. Sometimes Allah may test you by sending you a person who through a situation will extract what you have in your heart. But when your main focus in Allah, it will be easy for you to pardon and overlook.
Verse 62:
"That is because Allah He is the Truth (the only True God of all that exists, Who has no partners or rivals with Him), and what they (the polytheists) invoke besides Him, it is Batil (falsehood) And verily, Allah He is the Most High, the Most Great."
"ذالك بأنّ الله هو الحقّ"
The One who said all the above is the Truth. Everything Allah decreed and ordained is the Truth. There is no such thing as coincidence. When you believe Allah is الحق you will know that whatever Allah brings in front of you is the Truth. Upgrade your level of thinking - Do not think why this person is bad mannered, Allah brought this person to test you - Will you be patient?
Do not take things from people personally, it is just a test. Live in life with a pure heart, free of jealousy and thinking bad of people. You will get purity of heart knowing that Allah is الحق.
Allah is Truthful in Himself, in His Promises. His Religion is the Truth. Worshipping Him is the Truth. His decrees are the Truth. Everything from and about Allah is the Truth. When you know this you will not object nor dispute nor blame.
"و أنّ ما يدعون من دونه هو الباطل"
And anything that is invoked besides Allah is falsehood. That is why if you want to ask, ask Allah. If you want to take your rights, ask Allah. If you want removal of distress, ask Allah. Calling anyone other than Allah is falsehood.
We are on a journey to Allah. During this journey we have so many needs. Call Allah, الحق. Do not call someone fake. You do not waste your supplication or your voice when you invoke Allah.
"و أنّ الله هو العليّ الكبير"
And verily Allah is the Most High, the Most Great.
Allah is the Truth and Higher than anyone else so connect with Him when you want anything from anyone. Connect with Him when you want goodness, when you want protection. If you want your work to be done quickly, you go straight to the Head. Do not waste your time going to the small employees. They are fake and cannot do anything, even if they appear to be able to help you. No one can even smile at you if Allah did not want it to happen. No one can benefit you if Allah does not want them to benefit you. Allah is just testing people with other people.
Allah is Higher than anyone who is high in your life. Do not call anyone except the Most High. This is the Hajj of the Heart.
This is why
This is Allah, who prescribed all the rules and legislations upon you.
Verse 63:
"See you not that Allah sends down water (rain) from the sky, and then the earth becomes green? Verily, Allah is the Most Kind and Courteous, Well-Acquainted with all things."
"ألم تر"
After Allah told us about Himself, He informs us of something we can see with our own eyes, which teaches us about and increases our belief in Him. We have seen this with our eyes, now we need to see it with our insight.
"أنّ الله أنزل من السماء ماء"
Allah sends down water from the sky
"فتصبح الأرض مخضرّة"
So due to it, the earth becomes green after previously being barren.
Similarly, when the dead heart is exposed to the divine verses of Allah, there is always hope that it will be green again. Because this is the action of Allah. However, you also need to take the means to revive your heart.
Guidance is like rain. No one can interfere or prevent it from coming.
"إنّ الله لطيف خبير"
Allah is the Most Gentle, the All Aware. He knows the hidden matters and brings goodness in a subtle, gentle way to the dead land. Because He is All-Aware of what it contains. Never despair of the mercy of Allah.
No matter how bad you think someone is, Allah is لطيف خبير. He knows the state of everyone, and He will derive the goodness in a way you cannot imagine. Do not lose hope in Allah.
Verse 64:
"To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth. And verily, Allah He is Rich (Free of all wants), Worthy of all praise."
Whatever Allah wants will happen, because:
"لّه ما في السَّمَاوَات و ما في الأرض"
Whatever is in the heavens and earth belongs to Him. This is His Dominion.
A person who does not believe in Allah will question and doubt. But this is the way Allah wanted it to happen. He is the One who disposes the affairs.
"و إنّ الله لهو الغنيّ الحميد"
And Allah is surely the Most Rich, Worthy of all praise.
He is Rich in Himself. He has absolute richness from all aspects. Out of His richness is that He does not need anyone. He does not bring anyone close to Him out of humiliation. Your worship to Him will not benefit him, because He is the Most Rich. Your obedience is good for you, and your disobedience is bad for yourself.
If you look at a rich person in this world, they have houses and money and servants but they need their houses and money and servants. They need what they have. To Allah belongs everything in the Heavens and Earth, and He does not need what He has. You need Him. Everything you see around you belongs to Allah.
Allahs Richness is connected with Praise. He deserves all praise from you because to Him belongs everything, and He does not need anything. No one can praise Him the praise He deserves, even if الحمد لله fills what is between the heavens and earth. Even if everyone praised Allah, only He can praise Himself as He deserves.
Verse 65:
"See you not that Allah has subjected to you (mankind) all that is on the earth, and the ships that sail through the sea by His Command? He withholds the heaven from falling on the earth except by His Leave. Verily, Allah is, for mankind, full of Kindness, Most Merciful."
"ألم تر"
Did you not see? - Open your eyes and your heart. Think and reflect over the following:
"أن الله سخر لكم ما في الأرض"
Allah subjected everything on earth for you. He is the King and the Owner of everything in the heavens and earth, the One who is Rich and does not need anything, yet He subjected everything on earth for you. Allah created all this, but He does not need it, you are the one who benefits from everything.
E.g. Although humans made the phone and computer, Allah is the One who subjected it for us. If He did not subject it, these devices would not work.
This produces humility in the heart of the person. Allah created everything for you, so why will you not submit to Him? Why do you argue regarding His laws?
"و الفلك تحري في البحر بأمره"
Had it not been for Allah subjecting the ship for you, you would not find any ship in the world. The ships carrying you and your load from one place to another by the command of Allah. He makes things work by His command.
"و يمسك السماء أن تقع على الأرض إلا بإذنه"
And Allah holds the heavens above you from falling on earth. We take this for granted. If Allah did not hold it, it would fall onto the earth. Anything you see happening by default is by the permission of Allah.
"إن الله بالناس لرؤوف الرحيم"
Allah with all people is full of Kindness, Most Merciful.
This is why Allah began the Surah with "يأيها الناس اتقوا ربكم". Allah is more Merciful to us than our parents. He never wants evil for any of the people. Out of His mercy and compassion, He subjected us all these to make our lives easy.
The more someone does for you, the more you need to do for them. We perform actions, but Allah does not need it, we benefit from it. If you do good you do it for the benefit of your self.
Verse 66:
"It is He, Who gave you life, and then will cause you to die, and will again give you life (on the Day of Resurrection). Verily! Man is indeed an ingrate."
And He is the One who gave you life.
"ثمّ يميتكم"
Then He will cause you to die.
"ثمّ يحييكم"
Then He will give you life again; and this is the resurrection.
You will be given life again for recompense and accounting. You are accountable for whatever you did in your first life. This is the story of your life.
But after all this:
"إن الإنسان لكفور"
Verily Man is ungrateful. This is the nature of man without guidance. Allah created everything for you, did so much good for you, is in charge of your life and death and resurrection, and yet man is ungrateful towards the blessings of Allah.
If you are grateful for the small things, it will be easy for you to be grateful for the bigger things.
Verse 67:
"For every nation We have ordained religious ceremonies [e.g. slaughtering of the beast of cattle during the three days of stay at Mina (Makkah) during the Hajj (pilgrimage)] which they must follow; so let them (pagans) not dispute with you on the matter (i.e. to eat of the cattle which you slaughter, and not to eat of cattle which Allah kills by its natural death), but invite them to your Lord. Verily! You (O Muhammad
ﷺ) indeed are on the (true) straight guidance. (i.e. the true religion of Islamic Monotheism)."
"لكل أمة جعلنا منسكاً هم ناسكوه"
Allah ordained rituals for every nation which they have to perform. This encourages unity. Allah does not need us to perform these rituals, we are the ones who benefit from it. If so many people go for Hajj, a little people go for Hajj, or no people go for Hajj it will not benefit or harm Allah. Before the Day of Judgement no one will visit the house of Allah, no one will perform Hajj. Then someone will come and demolish the Ka'bah.
It is not about the ritual, it is about the submission to Allah. Each nation had different rituals, but all these rituals disciplined them on submission to Allah.
"فلا ينازعنّك في الأمر"
So do not let anyone dispute with you.
"ودع إلى ربك"
And call the people to your Lord, whether they accept or object. If you listen to the objections of the people it may discourage you. Do not go along with the desires of the people, do not let it affect you, continue on your way. These are Allahs rules, not yours.
"إِنَّك لعلى هدى مّستقيم"
Verily you are on the straight path of guidance. Do not let people who are not on it affect you. And your guidance is from Allah.
If your قصد إلى الله, do not let anyone else's desires, opinions, objections, affect you.
Verse 68:
"And if they argue with you (as regards the slaughtering of the sacrifices), say; "Allah knows best of what you do"
"و إن جادلوك فقل"
People argue in Hajj and they argue in life just say:
"الله أعلم بما تعملون"
Allah knows about your intention and goals. He knows if you are arguing because you are following your desires or because you are arrogant. And Allah will recompense you.
