The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge in Allah for al-Hasan and al-Husain, saying:
I seek refuge for both of you in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous thing and from the evil eye which influences.
He would then say; Your father (Ibrahim عليه السلام) sought refuge in Allah by them for Ismail and Ishaq.

Many mothers complain of their children's sickness, and in their attempt to protect and cure them, they resort to Shirk. They hang necklaces on their neck, put something under their pillows or in the corners of the house, etc.
But the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and the Sunnah of Ibrahim عليه السلام was that they protected their children by saying the above Dua.
I seek refuge for both of you
Seeking refuge with Allah is an act of worship. You are weak, in need, and you run to Allah to remove and protect you from what you fear.
With the Perfect Words of Allah
The Prophet ﷺ sought refuge with the Perfect Words of Allah.
The Muslim believes that Allah speaks with whatever He wants, anytime He wants. The Speech of Allah is an Attribute of Allah and is not like the speech of man. In [42:11]:
"There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer."
The Words of Allah are of two kinds:
Universal
In [36:82]:
"Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, "Be!" and it is!"
E.g. If Allah wants you to have children, He will say "Be" and you will have children. No one can stop the Words of Allah.
Legislated
What Allah commanded in His Book are His Words.
E.g. Allah commanded us to pray. Some obey, some disobey.
In this Dua, the Prophet ﷺ is seeking refuge with the first kind - The Universal Words of Allah.
What is the Prophet ﷺ seeking refuge from?
Three things, which if Allah protects your child from, no harm will happen to them.
From Every Devil
The Shaytan is your enemy, he wants to harm you and your children. You cannot protect yourself and your children unless you seek refuge with Allah from his harm. Every day, say this supplication for your children, and he cannot harm them. They see nightmares at night, and get scared, because of the Shaytan. When they are older, teach them to say the morning and evening supplications themselves.
Remembrance of Allah is the Fortress of the Believer.
Anything Poisonous
The Scholars said that even if your child was bitten by something poisonous, it would not harm him if you say this Dua.
And from the Evil Eye which Influences
