Fiqh of Dream Interpretation - Class Three - (31/7/16)

بِسْم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"...وَالرُّؤْيَا ثَلاَثٌ فَالرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةُ بُشْرَى مِنَ اللَّهِ وَالرُّؤْيَا مِنْ تَحْزِينِ الشَّيْطَانِ وَالرُّؤْيَا مِمَّا يُحَدِّثُ بِهَا الرَّجُلُ نَفْسَهُ..."
And dreams are of three types:
1) The righteous dream which is good news from Allah,
2) Dreams in which the Shaithan frightens someone,
3) Dreams about something that has happened to the man himself.

-> A dream from Allah is a dream created by Allah for a person in his sleeping state, as Allah inspires good thoughts to a person in his awakening state.

-> True dreams are dreams that will happen
-> Good dreams are dreams that will either give glad tidings to the person or serve as a warning for him.

What should I do when I see a dream from Allah?
1) Praise Allah
2) Ask Allah to fulfill the good dream for you
3) Not tell it except to four types of people:
-> A Scholar
Dreams should not be interpreted except in accordance to the symbols in the Qur'an and Sunnah. It can not be done except by a person who has knowledge of it.

-> A Good Advisor
This person will guide you what to do.

-> A Beloved Person

-> A Wise/Intelligent Person
If the Wise person sees there is something not good, he will know not to speak.

Look at the attitude of Ya'qub with Yusuf عليه السلام in [12:5]:

"He (the father) said: "O my son! Relate not your vision to your brothers, lest they arrange a plot against you. Verily! Shaitan (Satan) is to man an open enemy!"

Be careful who you tell your dreams to, even if it is your siblings, because they can become envious and even misinterpret it for you.
