Uthman bin Affan reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others" [Bukhari]

And one of the descriptions of the Qur'an is that it's عزيز. Allah said in [41:41]:

This means that not everyone can understand, comprehend, or attain it. It's not given to everyone. It requires a lot of diligence, effort, and time in studying it. If you give it all of you, it will only give you some of it. Why? Because it's the speech of Allah.
You'll never be able to comprehend the entire Qur'an in your life, no matter how much effort you put in it.
This means that we need to accompany the Qur'an day and night, throughout our lives, so that it has an effect on us.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever recites the Qur’an and learns it and acts according to it will be given a crown of light to wear on the Day of Judgement whose light will be like the sun. His parents will be clothed with two garments that never existed in this worldly life. So they will say, ‘What has caused us to be clothed (in these garments)?’ It will be said, ‘Your child taking hold of the Qur’an has caused this.’” [AlHaakim]

This shows us that the effect of the Qur'an on its companion will not be limited to him, it'll extend to his parents.

The Qur'an has an effect on the hearts and souls, because it's the speech of العليم، الخبير, who knows what reforms the hearts and souls.

AlAsma'i was a man from the early generations.
One time he was walking in the roads of Basra and came across a Bedouin riding a camel with a sword on his hand, a bow on his shoulder, who asked him from which tribe he was from. He said Bani Asma'. The Bedouin asked him from where he came from. He replied that he has come from a place where the speech of Ar-Rahman was recited.

The Bedouin asked him if الرحمن had speech that could be recited. AlAsma'i replied yes. The Bedouin asked him to recite from it; so he recited Surah AlDhariyat, until he reached Verse 22:

The Bedouin told him to stop, got up, slaughtered his she-camel, and divided it with his skin and asked alAsma'i to help him distribute it to the people. He broke his sword and bow and walked towards the desert whilst repeating this verse.

The verse means that your provision is up to Allah, don't worry about it. Allah promised that He would provide for you. Don't think that just because you're working and making an effort, that's it's you who who are providing. Allah is the Provider.
And notice, at the end of this Surah Allah says, in [51:56-58]:

After the Bedouin left, Al-Asma'i wondered at himself. How many times have you read this verse, yet it didn't affect you like it did on the Bedouin?

Days passed and Al-Asma'i was doing Tawaf around the Ka'bah when someone called him. He turned around and saw that it was the Bedouin. He asked him to recite again. AlAsma'i recited the same Surah until he reached the same verse:

The Bedouin said, "We found what our Lord promised us to be true"
He lived according to this one verse since that time, such that he saw the truthfulness of the promise of Allah.
Then he asked Al-Asma'i if there was more. Al-Asma'i continued to recite. In Verse 23:

The Bedouin said, "سبحان الله, Who made the Lord of the Heavens and Earth angry until He swore?" He repeated this three times and died.

Contemplate on the state of the Bedouin. This man lived these verses in his life. But where is the effect of the Qur'an on us? How many verses and Surahs do we study and learn, yet where is the effect of that on our hearts and souls? Living and acting one a single verse is enough to transform our lives.

We have to ask Allah to forgive our mistakes and deficiencies.
