Allah said in [20:8]:
No one deserves your attachment except Allah. Break all the idols in your heart, because they're an obstacle between you and attaching yourself to Allah. The idols are any attachments with love and magnification in your heart. If your heart is already occupied, it can't have Allah. Only when your heart is empty of anything else will you feel the worship, love, mercy of Allah. Because you don't see anyone else.
You'll attribute the knowledge you're learning to Allah, even if it's through the teacher. The line is vertical, not horizontal. It's between you and Allah. And this is what لا اله الا الله is.
And the One who you're attached to has all the beautiful names. He's perfect. And if you focus on only one name of Allah, it'll be enough for you to survive your entire life.
E.g. You only know the name الرب and you keep learning it throughout your life, it'll be enough for you.
When you believe in Allah your relationships with people will be the best, because your heart is attached to the One who can make everything perfect.
Notice, from the moment we started studying this name, everything around us automatically became vaster.
Allah's wisdom is vast; we can't encompass it. Sometimes we put two and two together and figure out why a certain decree occurred to us, but there are actually unlimited wisdoms.
We may plan to do something, and an obstacle prevents us, and later we see that Allah's plan was much much better for us. We get so happy after understanding one حكمة; but there's so many wisdoms we don't see. The Decreer of our situations has vast wisdom and mercy. And we need to believe this, especially during tightness, difficulties, restrictions. This is the test for your belief in He teaches you this name in two ways:
1) When everything becomes واسع for you
2) When everything becomes restricted and constricted for you
Both times you need to believe that Allah is الواسع; even if you see the opposite. And when you know this, you'll deal with everything with an open mind, heart, chest.
What makes your mind closed? When you think horizontally; about people, etc.
What opens your mind? When you think vertically. You look at the bigger picture. You believe, even though you see the opposite.
When Allah commanded Musa to go to Pharoah, Musa said in [20:25]:
And when you ponder, you'll see how Allah made his heart so vast to be able to deal with Pharoah. And we are test for each other in life, we need a واسع heart and kind when dealing with our husbands, children, family.
So there aren't even limits to the Names of Allah. We can't say we finished studying the Name of Allah الواسع, we can't even reduce it to points - because it's unlimited. Because He is الواسع, no one can praise Him as He deserves. We can't encompass the sky, how do we expect to encompass the Creator.
1) Allah is واسع in Himself
No one makes Allah vast, No one can restrict Him, No one can influence Him. He is واسع بذاته.
and He is the One who it makes vast for His Slaves.
He is the One who makes your mind open and vast, the earth vast, etc. This is His action.
E.g. Sometimes roads become narrow temporarily because of construction. With little patience, it becomes vast.
If you deal horizontally, you'll focus on this temporary construction, start blaming and accusing people, etc.
But if you think that Allah is الواسع, you'll get reward, and Allah will make things vast eventually.
E.g. When roads are already vast; the horizontal thinker praises people for the good roads, and doesn't even think about Allah. But sometimes there are 6 lanes, and yet there's still traffic.
You might be in the Haram, and it may be crowded, but if you believe in Allah الواسع, Allah will make it as if you're the only person there. It's a matter of trust and belief.
It's not what you see of big and small, it's about the vastness of your heart and you believe in Allah
You might have nothing and feel vast, and have everything and feel tight. It all boils down to your belief in Allah
We are the ones who make restrictions because we think we're smart and know everything. We count and plan and worry.
How does Allah make vast for the people? In their رزق.
E.g. Even when you have a party and invite people, and more people come, you wonder how there was enough food. If the person comes, Allah sends his رزق to come with Him. He is the Provider. He is الواسع. It's all about your faith. It's not about the size of your house, the amount of people, the roads:- it all amounts to your belief in Allah.
It can also have the meaning of richness.
From Allah's richness, He gives to the people. And it's vast.
No one is excluded from Allah's richness and vastness. He is vast for even the كافر. He encompasses the entire creation with His vastness.
No one enters this life without Allah accommodating them. That's why He forbids people to kill their children out of fear of poverty. Don't think that you're the one providing for them.
People nowadays think if they have children. When things become expensive, there's no more space in the house, they stop having kids. You think that you don't have room and money from them, but you do. Allah is الواسع.
He'll help you, He'll bring the means, He'll give you the money, the guidance for your children, etc. You just need to believe Allah, do good deeds, and completely rely on Allah.
If everyone asked Allah at the same time, He can answer them all at the same time. We can't even listen to two people at the same time. But Allah listens to everyone, accommodates everyone, and disposes and plans everyone's life at the same time. No one is neglected with Allah.
If three people shout or criticize you in one day, you feel constricted and sad. And the One who received the most is Allah - with no right. "أكثر الناس لا يشكرون"
Most people insult Allah, ascribe partners to Him, etc. while He is our Creator. And yet Allah is vast in His pardoning. Even if they insult Him for 50,60 years, He still provides for them, and if they repent, He forgives.
Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "None is more patient than Allah against the harmful and annoying words He hears (from the people): They ascribe children to Him, yet He bestows upon them health and provision. [Bukhari]
