Common mistakes practiced with regards to صلاة الإستخارة

4) People say, "I prayed صلاة الإستخارة but it didn't work" 

E.g. I prayed الإستخارة and the man I married turned out to be bad. 

This is a bad thought about Allah. After consulting Allah, how can you think that He will write evil for you?

Good and evil is not according to our limited perception. Allah knows what is good and bad for us. Maybe this bad husband will be a means of bringing you closer to Allah. 

E.g. A man wants to get married to a woman he loves. He prays صلاة الإستخارة and Allah makes it difficult for him to get married to her. He should think good about Allah - maybe marrying this woman would be a means of wretchedness for him in life. 

In (2:216):

5) Some people make the دعاء in their Sujood

We have to say the supplication either after finishing the صلاة or before the Tasleem (without raising your hands). 

6) One should not add to the دعاء except when the Prophet ﷺ told us to.

7) If you are unable to offer it and you have to take the decision immediately, you can just say the دعاء.

8) It is permissible to combine two intentions.

E.g. You are offering a Sunnah prayer and don't have time to pray صلاة الاستخاره and that prayer as well. You can pray with the intention of both prayers. 

Although some scholars said it is better to offer it seperately.

9) You shouldn't offer it in the forbidden times

The forbidden times are from dawn until sunrise, when the sun is overhead at noon until it has reached its zenith, from Asr prayer until sunset.
