Introduction: Name of Allah الرقيب - The Importance of Knowing Allah(1b)

2) Don't be blind. Be a seer.

The blind person is the person whom Allah puts through events and situations and he doesn't know how to interpret the actions of Allah. He doesn't know how to explain what happens to him.

In (35:19):

E.g. I need money.
As soon as this need arises I think of such and such person who always helps me and is there for me. She never rejects my request. I go to her, knock on her gate, and she refuses.
I go back home confused and upset. Why did this happen? She used to be generous and kind, now she's miserly?
Thinking like this is a misinterpretation of the situation. She didn't give you the money this time because you put your trust in her instead of Allah. So Allah nurtured you, to teach you not to attach your heart to people, to rely and resort to Him instead. It's Allah that makes the people give and help you.

In (35:2-3):

رحمة = Every good you attain and every evil being driven away from you

Whatever Allah opens of mercy, no one can prevent it.
Whatever Allah withholds, no one can grant it to you thereafter.

E.g. Allah withholds good health from you. No medicine, no doctor can cure you unless Allah opens the door of cure.

E.g. Allah withholds knowledge from you. You might try to understand one verse but you can't. No one can make you comprehend except Allah.

Opening and closing is Allah's action. And He justifies this: Because He is العزيز الحكيم.
Whatever He wills will happen. Whatever He doesn't will not happen. His command is executive. No one can stop or repel it.

His عزة is connected with His wisdom. Don't think that whenever Allah withholds or gives He does it randomly. He does it with His power and ability in addition to His wisdom. He knows when to give you, what to give you, how much to give you, through whom to give you.

We always blame people because we don't understand Allah is العزيز. It's not because of so and so that you're sick or can't understand, Allah is the One who opens and withholds.

Remember the blessings of Allah upon you.
Is there any creator who gives you other than Allah? There's no one.
No one can grant me if He withholds provision from me.

So why are you turning away from Him? Why are you running to the people, envying people, blaming people, etc?

I have to explain every incident I go through according to the Names and Attributes of Allah.

E.g. Sometimes my heart is constricted.  I ask myself why? Some people believe in superstitions, bad omens, or because every time I meet so and so they spoil my day. Constriction of the heart has causes, like committing sins, for example.

So what should I do instead of accusing people? Show humility to Allah, repent for my sins, and ask Allah to open my heart.

In (20:25):

Nothing can open and broaden your heart except Allah. So don't accuse people.

The Prophet ﷺ called the believers to participate in the battle of Tabuk. 3 companions stayed behind without a legitimate excuse. The Prophet ﷺ commanded everyone to stop talking to them as a punishment. Just imagine how they felt. No one talking to you in the whole city.

In (9:118):

The earth closed on them in spite of its vastness and their inner selves became constricted.

Did they say let us leave this place? Or take a vacation (as we tell everyone nowadays who doesn't feel good)?

They perceived that there is no fleeing from Allah except to Him.
Where will you run away from Allah? Where will you go? You have to go back to Allah. They repented to Allah and Allah accepted their repentance.

In (10:107):

Whenever any harm touches you, no one can remove it except Allah. لا اله الا الله. Just raise your hands to Allah, cry to Him, and He will relieve your distress. Allah loves to hear your invocation. This is what He wants from you. Flee to Allah.

Whenever you go through any situation explain it correctly. And you don't have except the Qur'an and the Sunnah in order to do that.

Allah may close the gates of the people from you in order that you run to Him. But many people don't understand this fact.

And Allah sends warnings from time to time, in our personal lives, or in the world. We hear about hurricanes, killing, oppression.
Why did Allah make you hear and see all this? Don't think that you're far from these matters and not meant by them, we are meant by what is happening in the whole world. Allah sends warnings for a reason. He wants us to go back to Him.

E.g. Allah made you hear the conversation between two people for a reason. Ask yourself: What does Allah want from you that moment? You didn't want to hear that conversation but you heard it.

E..g You heard a specific verse when you switched on the radio; why did Allah make me hear this?
Every Qadar is decreed by Allah for a purpose.

We have to be a seer. We confront everything in our lives for a reason. What will you think at that moment? What will you do?

Sometimes Allah reminds you of your old sins when you were ignorant. And you hate what you did before. Why? In order for you to renew your repentance. And when you renew your repentance you will have a new reward with Allah, and He will exchange your evil deeds with good deeds.
Everything we are going through is for a reason, but we need to explain it correctly,

The more you learn about Allah, the more you will think good and expect good from Him. And when you always think and expect good of Allah, He will make you a seer.
حسن الظن بالله is a result of knowledge about Allah.

If you live throughout your life thinking good of Allah, then your ending will be good. When you're dying and you don't despair but are optimistic and believe that Allah will be merciful to you, then Allah will be for you as you expect Him to be.

So Allah will keep the believers who had belief in their heart and proved it through their actions firm in the world:
a) Whenever any doubt comes to them, Allah will repel those doubts with firm knowledge.
E.g. Financial crisis, no money. You say, "Allah is الرزاق. He created us all and He will never leave us"

b) Whenever any evil desire comes, Allah will strengthen their will and make them oppose their evil desires, and choose what He loves over what they love.  - السعدي

Second Reason it's important to learn about Allah: 2)What we are seeing of weak adherence to religion
We see a lot of 'good' Muslims who wear proper Hijab, pray, fast, but their hearts are empty. There is lack of love for Allah, lack of تعظيم.
What's the problem? They are believers, and they look apparently good, but their heart is empty. This is one of the symptoms of hypocrisy.
In (63:1):

The Prophet ﷺ is a messenger of Allah. This is a fact.
"نشهد" = Our belief is so strong to the extent that it reached to the state of شهادة, as if we can witness that you are a Messenger of Allah.

They are saying a true fact, but they didn't have that feeling in their heart. That's how they are liars. They express feelings which aren't truly established in their hearts.
They say we love Allah, we fear Allah, but there is no love or fear of Allah  in their hearts.

This is what most people are suffering nowadays: Lack of faith.
They give importance to their appearance. What about your heart? How much fear of Allah is there, how much hope in the reward of Allah is there?

Hijab is a burden on them, not an honour. They don't have these feelings in their heart.

The core of our عبادات is belief in the unseen.
Everyone is doing good, but there are people in who desire the next world in their hearts. They want their weight to be heavy with Allah while others pray and fast but with no hope for the next world in their hearts. These are not equal.

The more you perfect your عبادات the more belief you have in your heart.

Hasan AlBasri was asked, "The companions of the Prophet ﷺ didn't do as many good deeds as the followers after them, so how did they excel them?" he replied, "The Dunya was in the followers hearts while they were doing the action, while the companions did good with the next life in their hearts"
This is the difference.

Many people memorize the Qur'an, but where is the effect of the Qur'an on them? Every page of the Qur'an talks about Allah, yet there is no effect of that on them. The situation we are in is so dangerous.

What will make me do good and enjoy my عبادات? Knowing Allah. The more you know Allah, the more you will perfect it.
