سورة السجدة - Class 4a - 7/2/16

Repeated words:

-> أبصرنا, يبصرون, الأبصار
-> سمعنا, يسمعون, السمع
 (Verses 9,12,26,27)

Allah created us and gave us tools (i.e. Our hearing and sight). We need to use these tools to benefit us, to see and contemplate over the signs of Allah and the verses in the Qur'an, to guide us.
The people of the hellfire see all the signs in this world, but it's as if they don't see it at all. Use your sight and hearing in this life, don't wait until the Day of Judgmeent to say you hear and see now and that you believe. It'll be of no avail then.
The intelligent person learns from the mistakes of others. Use your hearing to contemplate over what happened with the earlier generations.
Use your sight and ponder over the rain.

Narrated by Anas that when it rained the Prophet ﷺ unveiled his garment (from a part of his body) until the rain fell on him. We said: Messenger of Allah, why did you do this? He said: Because it (the rainfall) has just come from the Exalted Lord. [Muslim]

This means that the rain is a new creation of Allah. It's created just before it falls down.
Allah knows where each drop of rain will go and who will benefit from that drop.

-> تتذكرون, ذكر, ذكروا
(Verses 4, 15, 22)

In the beginning of the Surah Allah talks about His perfect attributes. This book is from رب العالمين; The One who created the heavens and earth and everything between them, and He rose over the throne. When you know the perfect attributes of Allah you will obey Him, love Him, etc.

After hearing the verses and seeing the universal signs, people divide into two groups:

1) The Believers
When they are reminded of the signs of Allah they humble themselves to Allah and prostrate to Him.

2) Those who turn away. They don't want to hear or be reminded.
