سورة السجدة - Class 3a - 31/1/16

The Prophet ﷺ used to recite سورة السجدة and سورة الانسان during the Fajr prayer on Friday. There's a connection between the two Surahs:
-> In سورة السجدة Allah mainly talks about the disbelievers, while سورة الانسان mostly discusses the People of Paradise.

We need to ponder over the سورة and notice each and every word.
E.g. In Verse 12:

They will say "...ربنا أبصرنا و سمعنا..."

Then, in Verse 26 and 27 Allah says:

When we make these connections, we get an extra benefit and meaning.

Division of the Surah:
1) The Qur'an and the perfect attributes of the One who revealed it (Verses 1-9)
2) The Description of those who deny the Qur'an + The Believers  (Verses 10-22)
The Qur'an is مثاني. When Allah talks about the disbelievers, He talks about the believers right after.
3) Just as Allah revealed a book to the Prophet ﷺ, He revealed one to Musa (Verses 23-24)
4) News regarding the Disbelievers (Verses 25-30)

Verse 1:

We don't know the meanings of these words, but they have a purpose. They are a challenge to the disbelievers of Quraish, who were experts in language, and whose speech were made up of these letters, yet they couldn't bring a Qur'an like this.

Verse 2:

One of the greatest bounties is this book. Everything that mends your affairs and fixes your manners is found in this book.

One of the Kuwaities who spent a decade in Guantanomo Bay was asked how he managed to stay there without going crazy. He said the Qur'an. When he came back home, everyone said he had improved as a person. Don't ever leave the Qur'an. It is the relief of this Dunya. And it's a light for you in your grave and in the hereafter.

This Qur'an came from رب العالمين

Verse 3:

The Attribute of the Qur'an: الحق
It's aim: "لعلهم يهتدون"

Till now people claim the Qur'an is fabricated by the Prophet ﷺ. But if a person wanted to seek leadership amongst people, he would attribute the words to himself, not to Allah.
And the Prophet ﷺ made a distinction between the Qur'an and the Sunnah. He used to order his companions during his lifetime not to write his Sunnah down so that it wouldn't get mixed up with the Qur'an. And the Prophet ﷺ was illiterate.
The Qur'an is full of details regarding the ancient nations in the Qur'an, and no one could have taught him, he barely ever traveled. Plus there are times where Allah reprimands the Prophet ﷺ for certain actions in the Qur'an.

It's the word of Allah. In it you'll find the news of the people of the past, of the future, of the unseen. There's no contradiction in the verses. You find all the answers to your questions in it.

There was an atheist who tried all religions until one of his friends told him to try Islam. He said, "Are you kidding me, it's the religion of terror?"
His friend gave him the Qur'an and he started reading it. And while he was reading it he asked God to show him a sign. He waited and nothing happened. Then he continued reading the Qur'an until he read a verse like this one:

And he said, "God answered me".

Everyday the sun rises and sets. It's a sign. Allah's showing us His ability in changing the day to night and the night to day. A believer is awake and alert towards those signs.

Those who deny the Qur'an is from Allah automatically deny the word of Allah, accuse the Prophet ﷺ of being a liar, and equate the attributes of man with the attributes of Allah (The Qur'an is the speech of Allah, and thus one of His attributes).

In the beginning of the revelation, the Shayateen would listen to the news about the future in the heavens. But after the revelation, they couldn't listen and would be struck with shooting stars. In (72:9):

And Muslim children have adopted the idea of the disbelievers and believe that they should make a wish when they see shooting stars. But we know that the purpose of the shooting stars are to shoot the Shayateen.

The Arabs before the Prophet didn't get any Prophet. They were in dire need of a messenger, a book. Allah revealed this book -> لعلهم يهتدون

Allah knows that we need to be guided. That's why we were commanded to say 17 times a day:

Allah said in a Hadith Qudsi, "يا عبادي ، كلكم ضال إلا من هديته : فاستهدوني أهدكم"

The Prophet ﷺ taught Ali to say: "اللهم اهدني و سددني"
When you are on a journey from one place to another you need to know the road. If you don't you'll be wandering everywhere for hours.

Textual Evidences from these verses that the Qur'an is from Allah:
1) من رب العالمين
2) الحق
3) لا ريب فيه
4) ما أتاهم من نذير من قبلك
5) لعلهم يهتدون
