Sunday 13 - (10/1/16) - العزيز Part 10b

Everyone talks about the current situation in the Muslim world, but not everyone has the right belief regarding it.

In one of the Friday Khutbahs, the Imam of the Haram highlighted the different aspects of النصر from the Qur'an. He said, in brief:

النصر takes place in many forms:-

1) Victory to the believers and defeat of the disbelievers (in terms of war).

This is is what people generally refer to when they think of victory and it is the most beloved to the hearts.

But it isn't just limited to this:

2) Destruction of the disbelievers and rescue of the believers (as had happened with the Messengers and their followers)

E.g. Prophet Nuh didn't fight his people. But Allah rescued him and his followers in the Ark and drowned everyone else. This is a form of victory.

E.g. Ad, Thamud, the people of Shuayb, the people of Lut, etc.

3) Revenge against the enemies after the deaths of the Prophets and the Messengers.

E.g. Yahya and Zakariya were killed by their people. After their death, Allah made their Da'wah prevail and sent a King who killed all those who had killed them.

Allah never sent a Messenger whose people killed him or any of the believers, but He sent someone later on who supported their call and sought vengeance for them. They were killed, but their call prevailed.

4) AlHujjah - Convincing Proof
E.g. Ibrahim never fought with his people. But he would always debate with them. He said in (6:81-82):

6:81

In (6:83):

6:83

And In (2:258):

His people ended up speechless and unable to refute him. This is a kind of نصر.

5) Emigration or situations where the Muslims are killed and persecuted.
You may ask how; but this means that Islam is prevailing. It's causing rage in the hearts of the disbelievers, and it's this very rage which pushes them to persecute the believers.

How many Prophets were expelled from their countries? How many believers were persecuted by their enemies? Thousands throughout the course of history. What made them do that? The truth spreading. Islam prevailing.

In the story of the People of the Ditch, the people believed after the King tied the Boy to the tree, shot an arrow attempting to kill him, and missed. The Boy then said to the King, "You will only be able to kill me if you say: In the Name of Allah, the Lord of the Boy" and when the King did this everyone embraced Islam. The Boy was killed but the truth prevailed. And then the disbelievers, out of rage, built a ditch full of fire to throw these believers in it.

Emigration, imprisonment, persecution, torture, are all kinds of afflictions which indicate the victory of the religion.

In (9:40):

9:40

After the emigration of the Prophet ﷺ, Islam prevailed and spread.

In (29:26):

29:26

6) الثبات on the truth
If you stay firm regardless of the intensity of the affliction, you are victorious.

In (47:7):

47:7

E.g. You are debating with your opponent who is on the wrong path. He might be oppressing or afflicting you with harm. As long as you stay firm and patient on the right path, Allah will support you, and this is considered victory.
Why? He harms you because he wants you to change, be like him, and forsake your religion. Don't give him the opportunity to do so. Stay firm. Allah will give you rest in your heart and peace in your mind. This is considered النصر.

7) People embracing Islam. This is a sign that Islam is victorious.
In سورة النصر:

People are trying their best to extinguish Islam, but more and more people are embracing the religion. Because Allah is العزيز. He is supporting His religion, and we are victorious, but most people don't know.

There are Prophets who were given all these forms of victory (like Musa and Muhammed ﷺ) and Prophets who were given some (like Ibrahim عليه سلام).

In conclusion, in order to achieve victory and support from Allah, it's on us to hold fast to the Qur'an and Sunnah and establish the religion on earth. We don't need forces and swords now. This is all that's required from us, and Allah will make us superior over our enemies.
