Q. If Allah is really العزيز, why doesn't He support His religion? Why are the believers humiliated nowadays?
A. Read سورة البروج. Allah started this Surah with 3 oaths. Look at the sky and the heavens. Allah created it and placed in it the sun, the moon, which move in their orbits and do not stray. Everything is in an organized system.
How could the One who made everything organized, perfect, and put everything in its correct place, leave the oppressors and wrongdoers without punishment?
There is a promised day for them - اليوم الموعود - a day where Allah will put everyone in their right place. The believers in their right place, and the disbelievers in their right place.
Allah is able to save the believers, but this fire was a test for them and us. They were thrown into a fire in this world, but they will be in Paradise in the next - ذالك هو الفوز الكبير
Allah punished Firaun, Ad, and Thamud, and can do the same thing to those persecuting the believers.
Remember this every time you see oppression. Allah is العزيز. He will make His religion superior sooner or later, as He gave victory to the Prophet ﷺ and His companions. But we have to be patient.
Based on the above discussion:
النصر, which we all seek, is in the hands of Allah, العزيز الحكيم.
In (3:126):
This part of the سورة is about the Battle of Badr. In Verse 125, Allah mentions the means of attaining victory:
1) الصبر
2) التقوى
E.g. A woman applies for a job and is told that she won't get it unless she takes of her Hijab. She needs to be patient and fear Allah. This is a test for her. If you take it off and give yourself excuses, how do you expect Allah to support and help you?
In (8:10):
Victory, which all Muslims seek, is in Allah's hand. It's not because of forces or numbers. Allah is able to give victory without the help of anyone. If He wills, all He has to do is say be and it will be. Did He not cast fear in the hearts of the enemies of the Prophet ﷺ and they were victorious without fighting? And in the Battle of Badr, The Prophet ﷺ and his companions were few in number. The Quraish had a thousand soldiers and many more camels. But in the end, the Prophet ﷺ was victorious. From where? Allah sent help.
Nothing is impossible for Allah.
Q. Why are the disbelievers allowed to overpower the believers sometimes?
A. In (47:4):
Allah lets us fight each other to test us; To see who is truthful and who is not, who really believes and who doesn't.
In (22:40):
It's as if Allah is telling the believers to receive glad tidings. Although you may be weak, powerless, and have no means of victory, Allah will support you. But you need to do something in order to attain this support: ينصره
Allah doesn't need help. How can a person help and support Allah? By establishing and practicing the religion, not fearing the enemy, making Da'wah, etc.
Those who fight nowadays and call it Jihad have got it all wrong. If you want Allah to help you, then all that's required from you is to establish the religion. At least start with yourself; practice Tawheed, pray on time, call people to Islam. Be a role model. If you do this, then Allah will support you. This is the victory everyone is looking for.
Narrated by Abu Huraira that the Prophet ﷺ used to say:
لا اله الا الله وحده، أعز جنده و نصر عبده، و غلب الأحزاب وحده، فلا شيء بعده
(Agreed upon)
In (47:7):
But know that if you don't support the religion, Allah is rich and in no need of you. He can replace you with others to support it. If Allah opened the gate of Da'wah for you then take advantage of it.
In (30:2-6):
When the Prophet ﷺ and his companions were in Makkah, the Romans (who were People of the Book) were defeated by the Persians. The Muslims were upset at their loss.
Allah then promised them victory.
On that day the believers will rejoice بالنصر الله.
Allah gives victory and support to whomever He wills. If He wills He can honour this person, and humiliate that person, and defeat the other. He is the One who grants the kingdom to whomever He wills and takes it from whomever He wills. Because He is العزيز. It's up to His will, not the people.
And He is الرحيم; He is merciful with the believers, and creates the means of their happiness.
This is a promise from Allah. And Allah is العزيز;- He never fails in keeping His promises.
But what's the matter with most people? لا يعلمون.
They don't know that Allah is العزيز. That He may let the disbelievers overpower the believers for a while, as a test. They don't know that the end result is in Allah's hands, and He promised the end for the believers. This is why they think and expect evil from Allah.
