In (9:67):

All the hypocrites resemble each other in the following descriptions:
1) يأمرون بالمنكر
منكر = Everything that Islam has forbidden and our natural disposition rejects

2) ينهون عن المعروف

How do they forbid good and enjoin evil? They don't do this to you directly. In order to make you do wrong and leave the good they mock you, defame you, ridicule that action you are doing and belittle it, so that you don't feel good about it.

E.g. Laughing at someone who eats with their right hand, saying that the proper etiquette of eating with a fork is holding it with your left hand and not doing so is old fashioned, etc.

3) يقبضون أيديهم
They hate to spend. In سورة المنافقون Allah orders us to spend:

4) "نسو الله فنسيهم"
نسيان:
1) ترك عن عمد
2) الذهول عن الشيئ
This is something we are excused from. In (2:286):

The hypocrites deliberately abandoned the remembrance of Allah. In return, Allah abandoned them. Allah is negated from forgetfulness.

How did Allah leave them? Allah didn't guide them to attain the means of His mercy. And on the Day of Judgement, Allah will deliberately leave them in the hellfire.

Be afraid of being attributed with such a description. These descriptions are a measurement for the hypocrisy in your heart.
Check:- Do you enjoin the Munkar and forbid the Ma'ruf? Are you miserly? How much do you remember Allah?

In (4:142) Allah says:

As soon as they finish their prayer they get up and rush to their worldly affairs whereas the believer remembers Allah continuously. He doesn't leave his morning and evening adhkar, the remembrance before he goes to bed, etc.
He does so hoping that Allah will remember him. Allah says in (2:152):

In (18:28) Allah said:

This is a kind of نسيان. Allah made their hearts heedless.

Abandonment of remembrance of Allah has an effect on your faith. It decreases the obedience of the slave and increases him in disobedience.

How did they turn away from the remembrance of Allah?
By either leaving His remembrance with their tongues or their hearts (by intention). They forgot to intend good whenever they did a good deed.

E.g. If the believer does something with his hand; helping people, feeding them, etc. He hopes that Allah will accept this little good deed, expiate the sins which he committed with this hand, and he hopes that Allah will protect it from the hellfire on the Day of Judgement.

E.g. He walks to the circles of remembrance. He remembers when he wasted his life before in vain gatherings and outings, and hopes Allah will forgive those previous sins and make this good deed a means of attaining his forgiveness, mercy, reward, pleasure, Jannah.
The believer has so many intentions in his heart when he does good deeds.

As the ايمان of a person increases the more aware he becomes.

Many people complain that they forget to have a good intention and only remember after they did the action. The Shaytan overpowers us when we are weak in faith. If we are alert all the time the Shaytan will have no place or way to overcome our hearts.
This is a very important thing. Remember Allah with your heart. Don't be heedless of your intention, even when you do the tiniest good deeds.

The believer always returns to Allah with hope, fear, and love. He does the good deed out of love of Allah, hoping to attain the reward of Allah, and is afraid of his sins and the punishment of them.

Because the hypocrites forget to remember Allah much, Allah doesn't guide them to good.
You will see the person who doesn't remember Allah much will spend his entire life without doing good. Weeks and months and years go by and he hasn't done any good deed. This is the state of the hypocrites. Their life passes and they haven't done anything beneficial. This is from the impacts of "فنسيهم". They did what made them deserve this.
Check yourself -> What are you spending your time and life in?

The hypocrites initiated their relationship with Allah with نسيان, so Allah abandoned them. He made them spend their time in doing nothing fruitful. They only think of accomplishing their worldly affairs, ignoring the meeting of Allah and the Day of Judgement, whereas the believer takes advantage of every minute in his life.

E.g. When we become sick we use it as an excuse to stay in bed, laze around, and do absolutely nothing. The believer may be sick in bed but you'll find him remembering Allah, advising those around him, etc. He doesn't want to waste his time, and takes advantage of it even in sickness, for he doesn't know if he's nearing the end of his life or not.

Who is guiding that sick believer to do and say good? Allah. Because this person remembered Allah, Allah opened the gate of doing good for him.

"إن المنافقون هم الفاسقون"

They are disobedient and rebellious.
الفسق is of different levels:
1) Shirk
2) Kufr
3) Hypocrisy
4) Major sins
5) Minor sins

فسق = Disobedience to Allah

The disobedience of the hypocrites is the greatest, unlike the believers who may fall into some sins, but repent.

They have 3 punishments:
1) نار جهنم
2) لعنهم الله
3) عذاب مقيم

In the Dunya, the Kaafirs and hypocrites gathered upon Kufr and opposition to Allah, so Allah will gather them on the Day of Judgement in the hellfire.

Allah then warns and threatens them in Verse 69:

If they don't quit, what happened to the previous nations will happen to them.

Allah mentions two common actions between the hypocrites and the previous nations:

1) استمتاع بالخلاق
They enjoyed their worldly portion. It could be wealth, power, leadership, children, etc.
Enjoyment is Halal, but they enjoyed it in the wrong way. This enjoyment caused them to be distant from Allah.

E.g. Allah gave Ad strength. They said in (41:15):

They felt arrogant and proud. Their power didn't bring them closer to Allah, it did the opposite.

The hypocrites did the same thing. Allah granted them the blessings of this world. Instead of using this blessings in obedience to the One who gave it to them, these blessings diverted them from the remembrance of Allah. They enjoyed this world at the expense of the next.

Allah gave every single one of us خلاق in this Dunya to bring us closer to Him, to benefit from it, and seek the next world.

2) خوض بالباطل
They indulged in falsehood.

الخوض is mentioned in Verse 65:

Mocking, defaming, arguing, vain talk, spreading falsehood, are all kinds of خوض بالباطل.

E.g. Sending a message and you aren't sure if its authenticity is a type of spreading falsehood.

We are falling into this sin. And the punishment of this:
1) أولائك حبطت أعمالهم في الدنيا و الآخرة
2) و أولآئك هم الخاسرون

Lessons:
1) Look at what Allah has given you of خلاق. Use it to come closer to Allah and seek the next world.

E.g. You're a teacher. Allah gave you these children as a means to come closer to Him.

E.g. Allah gave you a tongue. Use your tongue in saying good, advising the people, enjoining good, forbidding evil. How do you use your ears and eyes? Do you use it at looking at حرام? Do you use your ears to hear good?

Everything Allah has given you of blessings should be a means to bring you closer to him.
Allah didn't give us blessings to boast and feel better than others. He gave it for us to use it to come closer to Him.

E.g. Your religious knowledge
The believers knowledge is from the Qur'an and Sunnah. The hypocrites receive knowledge everyone, from east and west, wrong and right, they just don't care where they get it from. The believer stays away from knowledge which is mixed with theories and false statements.

2) Don't expose yourself or your faith to خوض.

3) Take care of what benefits you in life and stay away from what doesn't concern you. It is disliked to indulged in things which doesn't concern you.

Ibn Aun, one of the Tabi'een said, "Leave the people except in good"
Don't indulge in falsehood, vain talk, and things which don't concern or benefit you. Go to the people if you want to advise and teach them. Otherwise stay away from them.

The believer protects his heart from what diminishes his faith.
