The Bearer of the Qur'an recites the Qur'an with an understanding and attentive heart. He reads through the verses reflecting on himself and his life. If he passes by a praiseworthy or blameworthy attribute, he pauses and checks himself. Does he have this characteristic or not?
His goal is to attain the love of Allah by acting upon the praiseworthy attributes mentioned in the Qur'an and staying away from the blameworthy ones. He is ambitious to attain high ranks with Allah.
متى أستغني بالله عن غيره؟
When will I be enriched by Allah, so that I am in no need of other than Him?
We need things from people and we have to deal with them in this world. And yet, they are the ones whom we receive the most injury, pain, and hurt from.
The Bearer of the Qur'an recites (35:15):
He stops at this verse and reflects.
Allah tells us that everyone is فقراء.
Logic dictates that if we have a need, we don't ask it from a poor person; instead we ask from one who is rich.
Allah tells us that the people whom we need our needs from are فقير, just like ourselves. And Allah is الغني. So ask الغني to enrich you.
When you act upon this verse, it will get rid of all attachments to people in your heart. Your heart will be solely attached to Allah, الغني, the real Bestower. You wouldn't make the mistake of putting your needs at the gate of the people. Instead, you would direct all your needs to Allah.
E.g. I need someone to reform my state. I need someone to mend my heart. Allah says I am الغني, ask Me, and I will enrich you. Don't go to the people to mend your heart or reform your state. Go to Allah in whose hand is everything, including the hearts of the people. Ask him and He will give you.
As soon as a need arises the first one you should think of is Allah. This is something you need to train yourself upon.
Sometimes, when a need arises, we immediately think of such-and-such person. Then we go and put our needs at that persons gate, and that person declines to help us. We start thinking evil of this person, not realizing that Allah is nurturing us, because our heart ran to other than Him. We constantly fail with people, and get the opposite of what we hope for, because Allah is teaching us not to put our trust in other than Him. He is the only one who can fulfill our needs. Ask Him and have confidence in a response.
The Bearer of the Qur'an reads:
How many of us have stopped, paused, and reflected upon this verse?
الصمد is the One who is sought during times of needs and difficulties. Whenever you need anything run to الصمد. Call Allah.
If you show Allah that you only trust him and no one else, then Allah will be for you as you think of Him. If you think of other than Allah, Allah will make you fail again and again until you truly internalize that all people are فقراء, and no one can help you except Allah. Until you reach the state of ايمان where you are enriched by Allah and in need of no one else.
متى أكون من المتقين؟
When will I be one of the متقين?
Allah loves المتقين.
تقوى is to fear Allah such that you avoid everything He has forbidden and do everything He has commanded you with.
Humans, especially women, love to be loved. This is a weak point in us. Now imagine if Allah loves you. If He loves you, all the inhabitants of the heavens will love you, and acceptance on earth will be placed for you. What more do you want?
Allah created us having feelings in this world such as love, hope, desire, grief, sorrow, happiness, sadness, etc. We go through situations in life in which we feel these feelings. After having felt this, the Bearer of the Qur'an reads the Qur'an and feels these feelings with every verse he recites.
E.g. He felt regret or sorrow over a worldly matter. He then reads about the different regrets the people will have on the Day of Judgement and this feeling comes to heart.
Or he reads verses in the Qur'an which talk about Paradise. He feels delight and happiness.
The Bearer of the Qur'an lives the Qur'an. Even his feelings are directed according to what is mentioned in the Qur'an.
It's important to note that reciting the Qur'an, praying, fasting, attending classes, are not an indication of the إيمان of the person.
Evidence: HADITH: The Prophet ﷺ said, "The example of a believer who recites the Qur'an and acts on it, like a citron which tastes nice and smells nice. And the example of a believer who does not recite the Qur'an but acts on it, is like a date which tastes good but has no smell. And the example of a hypocrite who recites the Qur'an is like a Raihana (sweet basil) which smells good but tastes bitter. And the example of a hypocrite who does not recite the Quran is like a colocynth which tastes bitter and has a bad smell." [Bukhari]
HADITH: أكثر منافقي أمتي قراؤها
The Prophet ﷺ said "Verily the majority of hypocrites in my nation are amongst its recitors" [Musnad Ahmed]
Both the believer and the hypocrites recite the Quran but one is affected and one is not.
There are people who recite and memorize the Quran, but for seeking worldly gain, fame, or they use the Qur'an according to their هواء, to defend themselves or prove others wrong, out of pride. Don't ever exempt yourself from the descriptions in the Qur'an.
What is the sign of the true believer? He takes every verse, reflects, and applies it to himself.
We stand in front of the mirror to fix defects. The Qur'an for the Bearer of the Qur'an is like a mirror, by which he fixes his deficiencies.
