Sunday 7 - (22/11/15)

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّي أَسْأَلُكَ إِيْمَانَاً دَائِمَاً ، وَعِلْمَاً نَافِعَاً ، وَهَدْيَاً قَيِّمَاً

The first thing we ask Allah for is permanent, continuous faith.
What makes your faith continuous? Knowledge. But not just any knowledge;- beneficial knowledge - knowledge which you learn and act upon.

Continuous faith requires continuous knowledge.

Never say, "I already know this". Even if you know it, listen. Because faith needs continuous knowledge. If you stop seeking knowledge, your ايمان will decrease.

This دعاء shows us that there is such a thing as non-continuous إيمان. The faith in our heart isn't guaranteed to remain until the end of your life.
If you don't add wood to a fire, it'll extinguish. In سورة النساء Allah describes the hypocrites as having believed, then disbelieved. They didn't take the means of increasing their faith, so it decreased until it was removed totally from their hearts and they became disbelievers. Not acquiring knowledge is dangerous for your faith.

See what happens to your heart when you miss one weeks lecture.

The Intentions of the Student of Knowledge:
1) To remove ignorance from himself
2) To remove ignorance from others
3) To protect the Shari'ah from innovations and being forgotten.
