If you receive a blessing with ungratefulness you won't see its impact. The reverse is also true; if you show gratitude for a blessing you'll see its impact on your heart.
One of the greatest blessings of Allah upon us is that He made it easy for us to study the سنة of the Prophet. If you receive this with weak gratitude it will decrease the impact of this knowledge, or may even cause the removal of the blessing.
Why is it a great blessing to study the Qur'an and Sunnah?
A. Because holding fast to it is a means of success and salvation in both this world and the next.
Q. How can we reconcile between the saying of Ibn Aun, "يدعوا الناس الا من خير" and the Hadith of the Prophet, “The believer who mixes with the people and endures their harm has a greater reward than one who does not mix the people nor endures their harm.”?
A. Leave the people in their vain speech and actions, and associate with them in good. When you associate with people either by teaching them, enjoining the good and forbidding evil, etc you will undoubtedly face harm. This is the سنة of Allah; to test you.
Hadith 7277:
Abdullah is عبد الله ابن مسعود, and the Hadith is مرفوع (attributed to the Prophet)
الهدى = الاستغراق
The best guidance of ALL types of guidance is the guidance of the Prophet.
There is no guidance better than the guidance of the Prophet. Don't confuse yourself by going here and there, looking for ways to bring up your child, etc when all the guidance you need can be found in the Qur'an and Sunnah. Our religion is complete.
The relation between this with كتاب الاقتداء:
المقتدي feels sufficient with the سنة; and this is the most important thing he should have. The person who doesn't feel this sense of sufficiency is distracted, confused, running everywhere looking for solutions and guidance.
E.g. We go through many different situations with people in life. What should we do? How should react? Refer back to the example and teachings of the Prophet and the Qur'an. This is the path of salvation.
The مقتدي never feels shy to act upon the سنة of the Prophet. He isn't ashamed of eating, drinking, sleeping, living his life according to the Sunnah. He doesn't care what people will say about him, because he's doing the best thing, following the best guidance, and he's proud of it.
محدثاتها = بدعة
بدعة = ما أحدث يخالف كتابا أو سنة أو أثر أو إجماعا
Hadith 7278, 7279:
When a Hadith has more than one number it's because of the difference in editions.
Narrated Abu Huraira and Zaid bin Khalid, two companions of the Prophet.
While we were with the Prophet , a man stood up and said (to the Prophet ), "I beseech you by Allah, that you should judge us according to Allah's Laws." Then the man's opponent who was wiser than him, got up saying (to Allah's Apostle) "Judge us according to Allah's Law and kindly allow me (to speak)." The Prophet said, "'Speak." He said, "My son was a laborer working for this man and he committed an illegal sexual intercourse with his wife, and I gave one-hundred sheep and a slave as a ransom for my son's sin. Then I asked a learned man about this case and he informed me that my son should receive one hundred lashes and be exiled for one year, and the man's wife should be stoned to death." The Prophet said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I will judge you according to the Laws of Allah. Your one-hundred sheep and the slave are to be returned to you, and your son has to receive one-hundred lashes and be exiled for one year. O Unais! Go to the wife of this man, and if she confesses, then stone her to death." Unais went to her and she confessed. He then stoned her to death. (6827, 6828 - كتاب الحدود - باب الاعتراف بالزنا)
The relation between this Hadith and كتاب الاقتداء: The مقتدي judges in accordance to the book of Allah in all his affairs.
We don't find being exiled or stoning to death in the Qur'an. البخاري mentioned this part of the Hadith to emphasize that the سنة is also called كتاب الله (according to Ibn Hajr).
What does كتاب الله mean? ما حكم به و كتب به على عباده
Another meaning for it is the Qur'an
Ibn Daqeeq said that the first meaning is more correct because it is mentioned in the Qur'an that you have to obey Allah and follow the Prophet.
All what Allah has written, even through the speech of the Prophet, is called كتاب الله.
It also could be in reference to a verse. There was a verse in the Qur'an which recitation had been abrogated but it's حكم remains:
"الشيخ والشيخة إذا زنيا فارجموهما ألبتة نكالا من الله والله عزيز حكيم"
Many people raise the doubt about adulterers being stoned to death, claiming there is no evidence for it in the Qur'an.
In Hadith 6829:
The Prophet carried this out all the time, and so did the companions after him.
In addition, the Sunnah is also a revelation from Allah. In Surah Najm Allah said, "إن هو إلا وحي يوحى"
رجم is nor something new in the religion. It is a law that existed for the Jews well.
HADITH: Malik reported that Nafi` said that `Abdullah bin `Umar said, "The Jews came to Allah's Messenger and mentioned that a man and a woman from them committed adultery. Allah's Messenger said to them, «مَا تَجِدُونَ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ فِي شَأْنِ الرَّجْمِ؟»
(What do find of the ruling about stoning in the Tawrah) They said, `We only find that they should be exposed and flogged.' `Abdullah bin Salam said, `You lie. The Tawrah mentions stoning, so bring the Tawrah.' They brought the Tawrah and opened it but one of them hid the verse about stoning with his hand and recited what is before and after that verse. `Abdullah bin Salam said to him, `Remove your hand,' and he removed it, thus uncovering the verse about stoning. So they said, He (`Abdullah bin Salam) has said the truth, O Muhammad! It is the verse about stoning.' The Messenger of Allah decided that the adulterers be stoned to death and his command was carried out. I saw that man shading the woman from the stones with his body.' (Agreed upon)
Hadith 7280:
أمتي = Are they أمة الدعواة or أمة الإجابة?
If it refers to the former, than the one who refused is the one who didn't accept his دعواة, and if it refers to the latter then he is the one who didn't act upon the commands of the Prophet, or left out some of his commands.
Will they remain in hell forever? This is according to the will of Allah.
Whoever responds to all the commands of the Prophet will enter Paradise.
7281:
This is a parable for the one who obeyed the Prophet and the one who disobeyed.
It's narrated by Jabir Ibn Abdullah, a companion of the Prophet.
The Angels repeated the statement, 'إن العين نائمة و القلب يقظان' (His eyes are sleeping but his heart is awake) thrice. Once when they first attended to him, then when they were about to set forth an example, and then when they interpreted the parable. This indicates that it's an important statement for us to understand,
What does it mean? His eyes are sleeping but his heart is alert. It is awake with regards to knowing the reality of this life and the next. His heart remembers Allah even whilst he sleeps and turns on his bed. This persons thoughts are all good, pure, and noble. And this was the description of the Prophet عليه الصلاة و السلام.
And on the other end of the spectrum, you have people who sleep like dead donkeys, as mentioned in the Hadith:
The example of the Prophet in this Hadith:
A man built a house - The house is Jannah
Had a banquet in the house - These equate the delights of Jannah
Sent a messenger to invite people - This messenger is the Prophet. He is a caller calling the people. No one knows the way to this house except him, if you follow him he will guide you to it. There is no other way to this house.
Whoever responded to this messenger will enter the house and eat from it -
Whoever doesn't respond will not enter the house nor will he eat from that banquet -
(Notice the manners of the Angels when interpreting the parable. They didn't say 'that man is Allah')
People are of different levels with regards to accepting this invitation:
-> There are people who completely refused and didn't show any interest in following this caller. These people will never enter this house and enjoy this banquet.
-> There are people who respond but show laziness. Sometimes they follow, sometimes they don't. They lag behind, until the distance between them and the caller becomes so far that they lose trace of him. The get lost, confused, go different directions, while the people have already reached their destination.
-> There are others who follow the caller but want a shortcut. The callers way is too long for them, so they follow their own desires and thoughts and try to reach the house following their own route. These people will get lost as well, because there is no path to this house except through the guide.
-> These people focus on the caller and aren't distracted with anything else. They reach the house, enter it, and eat from the banquet.
The Prophet separated between the people because some followed, some people didn't. Some people were guided, others were misguided. Some believed, and others didn't. And we can see this separation.
Whoever obeys the Prophet has obeyed Allah, And whoever disobeys the Prophet has disobeyed Allah.
We have to follow the Prophet and his guidance to reach Jannah safely.
Al-Albani said many people criticize the way of the Salaf, saying that it is a long way to reach your goal. This is the right way. It will take a long time, but you will reach your destination in the end.
Yes, you may not see the result of your Da'wah now, but you will get the results sooner or later. Be sure of this. It is a long way and you need to be patient.
This is why those who follow the methodology of the Salaf are few. The people who follow the truth are few because they have to be patient, whereas other people want quick results.
Benefits:
-> This parable indicates the obligation of following the Prophet Muhammed.
-> It also explains the concept of sufficiency with the Sunnah; that the Prophets guidance is enough for us. Don't go left or right seeking other routes. Just focus on the way.
