بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
(Missed first 10 minutes)
The blessed person utlizes his time benefitting people and himself. His capital is his time. The bearer of the Qur'an spends his time in good.
His relationship with his students:-
The bearer of the Qur'an could be a mother, teaching her children.
When he teaches others he is gentle with them. He is not harsh if someone makes a mistake.
This is an important manner. Your gentleness will have an impact on the student. The student will love the religion and the Qur'an.
Especially if the teacher is teaching children.
The children won't disclose what they are feeling, they may feel hatred towards the Qur'an and religion because of one teacher that was harsh in her teaching. That child might do well and work hard out of fear of that teacher. It will have a bad effect on his attitude later on in life.
Many mothers don't follow up with their children. They're content that their children go to Islamic classes and back and don't know what is in the hearts of the religion. That child who had a bad teacher may grow up and start hating and abusing the religion.
Mothers wonder why their children grew yo memorising and studying the Qur'an and now they hate the religion.
The mother and teacher has an effect on her children and students.
If you have a social needs student, someone who is slow in learning. The teacher may have to repeat the same thing a hundred times, and yet the student will still not be able to grasp it. Instead of understanding that this child needs a different approach, etc, the teacher will lose her temper because she wants to finish the curriculum. She may treat that child with harshness which will destroy him.
HADITH: gentleness is not added to something except that it adds to beauty, and gentleness is not removed from any manner except that it increases in deficiency.
He is not harsh with someone who makes mistakes
The son of Adam makes mistakes. We all make mistakes. Don't reproach the person and embarrass the person in front of other students and children. This is very important.
Don't embarrass him, scold him, or call him names. This will affect his feelings.
صبور on teaching good. He is extremely patient in teaching goodness. You need patience to prepare the lecture, you need patience when explaining the lecture, you need patience when dealing with your students, etc.
What will help you be patient? Remember the statement of the Prophet: Allah praises those who teach the good to the people
And remember that even if the students don't understand, know the Angels attend the good assemblies, mercy falls down, Allah mentions their names to the people InThe dwellings of heavens, etc. even if you don't see any result with the students.
You are not responsible for the results. We lose patience when we don't see results. We are hasty, we want quick results. This is impossible. It's enough that you focus on yourself, and if you are truthful and sincere, you will get your reward from Allah. The result is from Allah. Allah is Al-Awwal and there is nothing before him, and He is Al-Akhir and there is nothing after Him. He is the one who will bring the result of your action.
We may take the means. Allah brought the means and benefited us with it, but the result is in his hand and not our heart.
You may be teaching, teaching, advising, etc, and you may say there is no result. It is in Allah's hand.
يأنس به متعلم
The learner finds comfort in his heart when he sits with him. Affability.
The person rejoices and finds comfort and happiness with the bearer of the Qur'an. This is because of his good conduct and gentleness.
One doesn't feel الوحشه when with him. This is because of his good speech and respect. He respects the people, even if they are young. Respect and gentleness will bring أنس to the heart.
Sitting with him brings goodness. He educates his companions according to the Qur'an and Sunnah. Next time we'll talk about how he behaves during times of calamity. (Last class next week)

The Characteristics of the Hypocrites in سورة الطوبة
The believers are concerned with knowing the characteristics of the hypocrites. The hypocrite doesn't care and feels secure from hypocrisy.
Two characteristics which the hypocrites don't have: Good conduct & Understanding of the Religion
We have to check ourselves in every situation. We could have a characteristic of the hypocrites and not perceive it.
Allah is exposing the inner self of the hypocrites, what is established in their hearts.
Verse 46:
و لو أرادوا الخروج لاعدواله عدة و لأكن كره الله انبعاثهم فثبطهم و قيل اقعدوا مع القاعدين
Because Allah hated for them to join the believers فثبطهم . This is a very serious matter.
It is as if they are saying we don't need you, stay behind.
و لو ادوا الخروج
We have commands from Allah: dutifulness to parents, husband, seeking knowledge, etc.
We need to prepare to undertake these commands. Before preparation we need to have an intention in our hearts. We need to have high resolutions, strong will, sincerity, truthfulness, seeking the pleasure of Allah. The place of all these intentions are in the heart.
Eg. Seeking knowledge. This is obligatory on every male and female. You tell your friend to attend the lecture at a certain time. You need to prepare yourself for this. We have other obligations at home before that time. A truthful person will immediately do these obligations so that she will be free to go for the lecture. A person who isn't truthful will delay and postpone all these obligations. She will procrastinate until one or two hours before the class, where she tries to finish everything and she doesn't go.
If in your heart you postpone and procrastinate and delay then where is your truthfulness? The truthful person prepares in advance and thinks about it. Our situation can change and obstacles can come, so as soon as the call comes, the truthful person works hard for it.
As soon as you are called you have to work hard and jump. No excuse, do delay, no laziness, so they you will be ready when the time comes. This is the truthful person, the opposite of which is the hypocrite. The hypocrite will delay and delay until he panics in the end and he will not be able to join, and a list of excuses will come out.
The truthful person with Allah works and prepares in advance. He doesn't wait till the last moment
الإرادات المستقرة
In (17:25):
ربكم اعلم بما في نفوسكم إن تكونو صالحين فانه للأوابين غفورا
As-Sa'di commented on this verse saying, "A righteous person is whose intention is righteous"
His intention revolves around Allah. He wants the pleasure of Allah, the nearness of Allah, etc. His heart isn't directed to other than Allah.
If this person commits a sin due to his nature, evil self, the Shaytan, etc. then Allah knows what was in his heart. His name with Allah is a صالح and Allah will forgive that sin he committed, because his intention was good.
The believer may make mistakes, he is not perfect. This mistake will displease Allah, but because he always intends good, thinks about doing good, Allah may forgive him.
But what is the ارادة which the person will be taken account with and his life will end with it?
There are ارادات which if a person doesn't expel from his heart, he may die on it. إرادات المستقرة. The end of the person depends on this.
If something good is established in his heart until the end of his life, he will die with a good end. If there are evil intentions in heart, he may die with a bad end.
Eg. Someone offended you. In your heart you plan to say such-and-such to her and do such-and-such. This person is intending to do something evil and is thinking of it again and again. She waits for that chance to come. This is an evil established intention.
Allah may make that person go through a situation and that evil will come out in her tongue and behaviour and the evil will be written against her in that record.
Allah will make us go through decreed events again and again, similar situations, to reveal what is there of إرادات المستقرة in your heart. To tell you to clear it in your heart before the end.
The hypocrites ignore this and give excuses to themselves, that they are good and others are bad, and that this is something normal, and it was that the person who made her like that. She will clear herself of this and Allah will make her go through the situation again and again to show her that this in really in her, and she will ignore this, until the time when the soul will be taken from her body and she will utter words which indicates what was in her heart for years and she didn't clear it.
At the time of death people don't have control over their tongues or limbs. We can control our tongues now, but at the time of death no one can control it. What was in the heart will appear on the tongue.
The إرادات المستقره is very important. Clear any grudges you have.
Hatred, malice is a sin of the heart. Not clearing it may cause a person to die with a bad end. Clear it by repenting to Allah, forgive the person who offended you, invoke Allah for that person
True repentance is asking Allah to forgive you and following up with good deeds.
You want to die with a clear heart towards everyone.
HADITH: now a man will come out, and he is one of the people of paradise. There was just a normal unknown man who had just taken wudhu. Amr bin AlAas wanted to know why he was one of the people of paradise so he stayed with him for some time. He saw no greater actions or deeds. Then he asked the man, the man said, "When I go to sleep I forgive all those who had wronged me. I have nothing against anyone in my heart"
قلب مخموم
How would you know if you have bad intentions? Look into your behaviour. Your actions and speech are a reflection for what is in your heart.
Whoever hides an evil will in his heart is very close to the hypocrites.
At the time of Jihad, or when they are called to march forth, the hypocrites lagged behind and gave excuses. Therefore Allah hated for them to go out and join the believers, although Jihad is one of the most beloved deeds to Allah. So their punishment was that Allah ثبطهم. Allah knew about their ill-intention, this is why Allah didn't like for them to go out.
How did Allah ثبطهم? Allah weakened and removed the resolution from their heart.
A call for Jihad, knowledge, good deeds, and he doesn't have the energy and enthusiasm to go and join. And you wonder how come?
Allah didn't legislate for them to stay behind. Allah called them to come, but because they turned away from the command of Allah and had a bad intention, Allah changed and turned their hearts away from His path.
They started with that evil. Allah knew what was established in their hearts.
Ask yourself why gates of goodness were closed on you when you are 'going' to give. But there is a difference between a trial and تثبيت:
How do you know the difference between the two? Allah may try his believing Slaves by temporarily depriving them of good to test their truthfulness. When they lose that opportunity of joining good will they feel content or feel fear that Allah may hate my spending, like the 7 who cried because they couldn't find a mount. Will you ask Allah to open the gate of goodness for you. Allah wants to see that from you. This indicates your truthfulness.
As soon as the gate is closed some people say الحمد لله. They don't know that this is not a good sign.
تثبيت -> if you had in your heart prior to that doubt, weak resolutions, hesitance, not thinking of the reward with Allah, show laziness and the gate of goodness was closed on you then it indicates it is تثبيت from Allah. We need to check our hearts.
We go through many situations every day and we need to focus on them. gates are closed and we don't know why it is happening.
There are many interpretations for the word قيل: (Who said?)
1) It was inspired in their heart by Allah
2) The hypocrites were telling each other to stay behind
3) Their evil selves telling themselves to stay behind
4) The Shaytan jnspired for them to stay behind
There are some people when the gate of goodness is opened, they will discourage the people to join. They tell each other to stay behind. اقعدوا مع القاعدين.
Eg. You're in a gathering. They started to talk about someone who is absent, and you want to defend regardless of what they are saying because the Prophet said, "Whiever defends the honour of his brother in his absence, it will be for him a veil on hellfire on the day of judgement"
And in another Hadith, "Whoever defends the honour of his brother, Allah enjoined upon His noble self to release him from hellfire"
But at that moment the Shaytan, your self or companion will say, "nobody is saying anything no need to say anything. Even that knowledgable person is silent, why do you want to talk"
We want to enjoin the Ma'ruf but because everyone is quiet, we stay quiet too. If we applied every verse we studied, our life will be better.
Ibn AlQayyim - "When they (the hypocrites) didn't believe in Allah or had lack of belief in Allah, the Judgement day, and lagged behind and had doubts, and didn't prepare for it in advance, Allah knew about it. This is why Allah hated for them to have obedience. Whoever doesn't accepts the gift of Allah which comes through Allah or the Prophet nor does he know the value of that blessing, and he received it with ungratefulness and raising doubts, the obedience of that person is hated by Allah"
Maybe they gave in the end but Allah hated that good deed they did. Although it is obedience, and Allah hated it, it is serious.
Allah will discourage him and remove the resolution from his heart.
Allah did it for a good reason. He wanted to protect the believers from that person. If he went with the believers he would do mischief and cause corruption amongst the believers.
This is really خذلان.
The Qur'an is between our hands and we are unaware of what is inside. Be the person who encouraged people. Don't be the person who disheartens the people. Don't be the person who tells them to sit behind, there is no need to work.
In (4:71-74)
يأيها الذين ءامنوا خذوا حذركم فانفروا ثابت أر انفروا جميعا
و ان منكم لمن ليبطئن
This has two interpretations:
1) Either because of his lack of faith be stayed behind
2) They made others stay behind
The same reason Allah mentioned in Surah Taubah: فان أصابتكم مصيبه قال قد انعم الله علي اذ لم أكن معهم شهيدا
Regardless of defeat or loss, they don't realise they're missing out on abundant reward. They are happy and grateful and consider it a blessing they were left behind.
و لئن اصابكم فضل من الله ليقولن لن كانا لم تكن بينكم و بينه مودة يليتني كنت معهم فأفوز فوز عظيما
This is all due to love of this world.
Be a blessed person. Encourage people to do good. Be that person. Don't be the person who discourages other people.
If you see yourself discouraged or lagging behind from doing good know that you might've done something, so Allah hated your going out for the sake of Allah.
Allah is forbearing and will not hasten the punishment for the person. He makes him go through situation after situation to purify ourselves.
If we went through any situation in the past and behaved like this then repent and take advantage of every opportunity for goodness.
In verse 47:
"لو خرجوا فيكم ما زادوكم الا خَبَالا و لا ضعوا خلالكم يبغونكم الفتنة و فيكم سماعون لهم والله عليم بالظالمين"
Allah is consoling the believers and the Prophet Muhammed.
سماعون - listening to everything everyone says and responds to it
This verse talks about something that makes a person a ظالم.
What did this person do such that Alllah considered him a ظالم?
Allah didn't mention what they will increase the believers in except خَبَالا.
خَبَالا = فساد
