Abu Huraira related that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven. Whoever prays during the nights in Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven. And he who passes Lailat al-Qadr in prayer with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven (Bukhari, Muslim).
We need faith to establish the days of Ramadan with fasting and the nights with prayer. We need to start working on increasing our faith now. The predecessors used to invoke Allah from Rabi Al-Awwal to make them reach the month of Ramadan with strong faith.
There are many means of increasing faith, one of which is knowing Allah by His names and attributes. This is something obligatory upon the believer. When you know Allah by His names and attributes your Tawheed will be correct and you will act in this world according to what Allah is pleased with.
When you fulfil the conditions of لا اله الا الله in your life, you will be granted that word on your death. And whoevers last word is لا اله الا الله will enter Paradise
When you know Allah you will love and magnify and deify him. Your heart will be attached to Allah and no one else. And this is Tawheed.
You will do what Allah wants you to do, even if the people become displeased with you.
الحي القويم
We recite Ayat al Kursi every day, but only a few people know the meaning of these names. If you don't understand the meaning, how do you expect the Ayat Al Kursi to have an effect?
القيوم implies the attribute of قيوميه.
القيوم is the intensive form of the word قائم (Standing in charge of disposing the affairs of the creation)
القيوم has two meanings:
1) القائم بنفسه/بذاتيه
Allah is rich and is in no need of any of the creation. He is rich in Himself, whereas when a person becomes rich, his richness is acquired. If Allah gives him something he becomes rich, if he takes it away the person becomes poor.
Allah is not rich because He owns the whole dominion, He is rich in Himself. He is in no need of the heavens and earth, they are in need of Allah.
He is the One who feeds and is not fed. Neither sleep nor slumber overtakes Him. He is in no need of a son, offspring, partner, etc.
Even the Mushrik who ask the intercession of the dead people don't understand that Allah doesn't need anyone to convey what the people want. They don't know who Allah القيوم is.
2) قائم over every soul.
If you really know the name القيوم your heart will be at rest. You know that Allah is القائم over you. He is the One who disposes the affairs of the whole creation, maintaining them, providing for them, etc.
He is قائم over everything He created.
When you know this you should be optimistic, tranquil, happy. Because no one but Allah القيوم is taking care of you.
The believer will never worry, overthink about anything because He knows Allah is taking care of all His affairs. Allah is taking care of even the tiny details of our life.
We have to repeat this name to ourselves again and again.
القيوم includes all the practical attributes. All the actions of Allah are included in the قيوميه of Allah.
The قيوميه of Allah in detail:-
1) قيوميه الخلق - Allah created everything
2) قيوميه الإمداد - Allah provides for everything
Eg1. Iron
In (57:25):
"وأنزلنا الحديد فيه بأس شديد ومنافع للناس"
Eg2. Ships
In (42:32-33):
Whenever Allah says "و من ايته" you have to consider this sign, there's a miracle within it.
We cannot live without ships. Goods are transported from countries to others through Ships.
Allah is the One who created the sea and is قائم over it. Because of this, Allah granted it a phenomena that doesn't exist in any other place. If you put a needle on the surface of the water it'll sink, yet this huge ship like mountains with loads is floating on the sea.
As the load increases in weight, as the power of repulsion will push more from the sea.
Allah created the wind and is قائم over it. The wind is one of the soldiers of Allah. Allah commands the wind to blow gently or violently, it does not move without the command of Allah.
The Ships are sailing because Allah commanded the wind to push it. Even a ship with an engine requires wind.
The ship requires both the wind and sea to sail. Allah created them both and is قائم over it.
All this is for our benefit.
Eg3. In (15:22):
أرسلنا = Only these specific winds make the clouds bear heavy water.
فانزلنا = After Allah sent the wind, He sent down water
فاسقيناكموه = Allah gave it to us to drink
Allah is the One who sent the water and gave it to us to drink. He is the One who stores this water in the form of wells, springs, etc.
"قليل من عبادي شكور"
Eg4.
(16)
In the first two verses alone Allah tells us about the 6 articles of faith:
1) Belief in Allah
"الله"
"سبحانه و تعالى عما يشركون"
2) Belief in the Angels
"ينزل الملائكة"
3) Belief in the books
"بروح"
4) Belief in the Messengers
"من عباده"
5) Belief in the Last Day
"أتى امر الله"
6) Belief in the Qadar
"يشاء"
(The Qadar is of four ranks:
a) Knowledge
b) Writing
c) Will
d) Creation)
After these two verses, Allah says:
Verse 3: قيوميه الخلق
Verse 4: قيوميه الخلق
Verse 5: قيوميه الخلق
Verse 5-8: قومية الإمداد
Allah created all these animals for us for our benefit. All these are provisions from Allah.
All what we see of cars, airplanes, etc are included in this verse. "و يخلق ما لا تعلمون"
Allah gave man the mind to make a car. We don't attribute these ideas to Allah.
Verse 10: قيوميه الامداد
Allah sends down rain for us to drink, and to bring forth pasture for the cattle to pasture.
Verse 12: قيومية الامداد
Allah subjected for us the day, the night, the sun, the moon. They are مسخرات. Allah created them and subjected them for our service.
Eg. If you want to milk a cow, the cow cannot refuse. If you want to plot the earth, it can't receive. The sun cannot refuse to rise.
Allah subjected all these creations for our sake.
Eg. If you are in need of assistance, ask Allah to سخر someone to help you. It is in Allah's hand to subject animals, humans to your service.
This should make you love Allah. Out of His love for us, He provides us all these sources for our living.
If you want رزق, ask Allah. Let your heart be attached to Allah and not the humans.
3) قيومية الحفظ
Allah is the One who created us, provides for us, and guards and protects us. He maintains us, takes care of us by His قيوميه.
Eg1. (22:65)
In this verse we have قيوميه الإمداد and الحفظ.
When Allah says "الم ترا" we need to stop and consider. Although we may not see it with our eyes, we can see it with our hearts.
"سخر" Allah subjected for us:
1) ما في الارض
Everything on the Earth is subjected for us. Even the harmful insects are for our benefit.
2) الفلك
Ships which sail on the sea under the command of Allah.
"يمسك" Allah is holding the heavens from falling on the Earth. This indicates that Allah is protecting us.
Allah is so compassionate and merciful with us that He holds the heavens from falling on us. If it falls we will all perish, but Allah is protecting us. He holds the heavens without any pillars.
Some interpreters say "The heavens are held by pillars we don't see" but this is not right. If it is held by pillars Allah will not say "يمسك".
Eg2. (21:42)
Allah is drawing our attention to one of his greatest favours on us, His guardianship during the day and night.
When we go to sleep we lose all our senses except our hearing, and this is considered minor death.
When we go to sleep we recite آيات الكرسي.
"لا تاخد سنة و لا نوم" It is as if you are saying, Allah I'm going to sleep and lose my senses, there is no One that can protect me except you, who neither sleep nor slumber overtakes me. You are قيوم over every organ in my body, you are قائم over my heart to breathe, my lungs to make me breathe, my blood to flow, etc. Allah is the one protecting us from every internal and external danger.
There's a hole in the ozone layer and that increases sicknesses, etc. there are people who excessively worry over this. Allah created the heavens and earth, and Allah is all able to fix it for us.
Eg3. (30:25)

The heavens and the earth stand by Allah's command. This means that they will be protected by Allah, they will not be removed from their places except by the command of Allah.
There are mothers who excessively worry about their children. Don't think that you are the one looking after your child. Allah created your child and will look after them. Don't neglect your child, but trust in Allah. Allah gave you this gift, and Allah will take care of it for you.
Allah created every human, Allah is قائم over every person, every cell in our body. The blood flows in our vein by the command of Allah, and He is able to command the blood to coagulate.
Heart attacks happen by just a tiny blockage in the vein. Everything happens by Allah's command.
If you know that Allah is قائم over us, will you ever think that you can live without Allah for a blink of an eye. So let your heart be attached to Allah and no one else.
Nothing can remain existing without Allah القيوم.
4) قيومية الهدايه
Allah created us, provided for us, protects us, and guides us.
(26:78-81)

Surah Shuaa'rah tells us about the Prophets with their people. Allah tells us about Musa, how he debated with Pharoah and Ibrahim and how he debated with his father and disbelieving people. They emphasised Allah's actions, introducing Allah to their opponents.
Guidance is in Allah's hand. There are two kinds of guidance:
1) General
Allah guides all the creation to what benefits them and the means of their living.
2) Special
This is the one we'll discuss. This is guidance to what brings us happiness in this life and the next. This is of two kinds:
i) هداية الإرشاد
This is showing the guidance, to make people recognise the truth.
ii) هداية توفيق
There are many who hear the message, but not everyone acts upon it. This is to act upon what Allah shows of guidance.
Allah guides whomever He wills. He knows what is in the heart of everyone. If she is truthful, Allah will help her act upon the knowledge.
This is in the hand of Allah and no one else.
Allah sent the Prophets to show people the message, but only few responded to the call of the messengers. Allah guided those who responded, it is not in the hands of the messengers or the preachers to guide people.
There are 4 ways of guiding people:
1) By sending messengers
2) Revealing books
Evidence: (42:52)

Allah called the Qur'an "روح" (Spirit). The Qur'an gives life to the heart and the heart in which there is no Qur'an is dead.
3) Through Universal Signs
Everything we see around us are all آيات from Allah for us to ponder and contemplate.
We see the sun rising and setting everyday, to tell us that the one who created these creations is powerful, ever living, never dies, etc.
And just like the sun and the moon, as Allah created us from nothing and we attained strength, we will one day night. So make your hopes the hereafter, not just this worldly life.
Only the ones who considers these creation deeply knows this.
4) By nurturing His creation through decrees
Allah guides us through decreeing events in our life to show us the truth. This is a very important means of guidance.
Allah created us in أحسن تقويم (The Best Form).
The hearts job is to know Allah, to love Allah, to magnify Allah and to deify Him. It's job is to worship Allah alone and no one else. For your heart to only be attached to Allah.
When Allah created us, He gave us a heart and He put feelings in it in order that we may use it in order to walk in this life on the straight path. We will all meet Allah one day, we are all journeying to Him.
Due to our association with people the heart gets attached to different people. We distributed our feelings to other people without letting anything remain for Allah. So Allah makes us go through trials, the decreed events, to make your heart attached to Him alone.
Allah will reveal and disclose the defects of the thing or person your heart is attached to in order for your heart to be attached to the one who is perfect. Allah will make the people we love as lashes, torturing us.
People who are excessively in love with people are in torment. Every ones defects are concealed, don't be that person who gets attached to someone such that Allah will disclose him.
If you don't take a lesson, Allah will repeat the event again and again. This is Allah nurturing you again and again in order to correct your Tawheed.
When you go back you will deal with everyone correctly. You will give everyone their due right, without being excessive. Be moderate in your feelings.
