Sunday 14 - (4/1/2015)

Allah created us in order to worship Him. But in order to worship Him we need to love and magnify Him, and in order to love and magnify Him we need to know Him.

Allah tells us about himself numerous times in the Qur'an:
E.g. ايات الكرسي:

2:255

No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah because He is الحي، القيوم.

لا اله الا الله is the word of Tawheed. Tawheed is how much a persons heart is attached to Allah, how much he relies and puts his trust in Allah. لا اله الا الله represents the Tawheed of the person; it is based on how much the person loves and magnifies Allah.

Love and Magnification are feelings. Allah created everyone with feelings but most people don't use it to come closer to Allah. Instead, they direct their feelings to worldly things.

The true believer has strong feelings towards the غيب (The Unseen). He has strong feelings towards every article of faith.

The place of these feelings is the heart. As the heart becomes more sound as the feelings increase. As the heart becomes sick as the feelings towards Allah, the angels, the day of judgement, etc. decrease.

The sound heart will react correctly as it goes through situations in life.
Every organ in our body has a function. If our ears are healthy it will hear as we should. If our eyes are sound and without defect then we will see correctly. If there is nothing wrong with our hands it can function properly.
If the heart is sound the person will worship Allah correctly.

Eg1. When the believer gets up in the morning to offer the Sunnah of the Fajr, he does so with the firm belief that they are better than the whole world and everything it contains. He offers these two Rak'ah's with honour and magnification.

Eg2. The believer reads in (17:78), "إن قرآن الفجر كان مشهودا"
The Qur'an read at Fajr is witnessed by Allah and the angels of the night and day.
It is Sunnah to prolong the recitation at Fajr. The Prophet would recite about 60 verses. The true believer will prolong the recitation because he knows they are all witnessing his prayer. He enjoys his prayer.

Eg3. If someone is dying there are many angels present. Only the true believer feels the presence of these Angels at that moment.

Eg4. Whenever the true believers arguing, he feels the Shaytan's presence.

It is as if the barrier between the person and the unseen is transparent. It is all a matter of feelings.
We believe but have no feelings, because there is a thick barrier between us and the unseen.
We hear about death, about hellfire and paradise and yet we have no feelings. This is due to lack of belief which is due to lack of knowledge about Allah. Our hearts are hardened because we excessively indulge in the worldly things.

How can I strengthen the feelings of the unseen in my heart? As your knowledge about Allah increases, as your feelings will increase.
All of our tests in this life revolve around Tawheed. Allah is testing our Tawheed through these trials. How much will you return to Allah, invoke Him, cry to Him? How much will I wait for the removal of distress from Allah and no one else?
The problem is not our children and husbands, our problem is that we don't understand Allah is testing our لا اله الا الله.

If you live in this world with strong Tawheed, it will benefit you in your grave, when the angels ask you, "Who is your Lord?"

We prolong our problems for ourselves. Instead of going to الصمد immediately when we have trials, we run to people and talk to them about our problems. We think about solutions 24/7 and don't realize that the solution is with Allah.

 الحي القيوم

الحي is the ever living who never dies. His life is perfect. His perfect life entails perfect attributes.

القويم has two meanings:
1) القائم بنفسه
Self sufficient, Independent, Rich.

"يأيها الناس أنتم الفقراء الى الله والله هو الغني الحميد"

Many people read this verse but don't know how to apply it in their lives. Sit down and write a list of your needs. You will realize that throughout your life you are in need. Our problem is that when Allah grants us a blessing we feel self sufficient and not in need of Allah.
Allah said in Surah Al-Alaq, "الذي علم بالقلم"
Allah taught us how to write, how to hold the pen. How many times have we thanked Allah for this blessing.

"علم الإنسان ما لم يعلم"

Then Allah says describing Man:
96:696:7

The true poor one to Allah is the one who realizes his need. He cannot move without asking Allah. When he hears the Athan he will rejoice because now the rich king is calling him and offering to answer him. He will run to stand in front of Allah to ask His need.
The person who doesn't know this will feel as if it is a burden over him. He doesn't realize it is his chance to ask Allah to fulfill his needs. He feels self sufficient.

2) المقيم لغيره
He stands in charge of providing, taking care, guiding, every single soul.

The قيوميه of Allah in the Qur'an:

1) (13:33)
13:33

2) (35:41)
35:41

3) (30:25)
30:25

تقوم here means to stay still and firm.

Allah created all the creation and He is قائم over it all. He holds the heavens from falling on the earth. He disposes the affairs of all creation. The heavens and the earth are in need of Allah, القيوم.
Everything is in need of Allah. The throne of Allah, the footstool, are all in need of Allah. There is no creation except that it is in need of Allah. We cannot live in this Dunya without Allah.

The name القيوم implies all the practical attributes of Allah (صفات فعليه). All the actions of Allah fall under this name and indicate Allah's قيوميه.

The قيوميه of Allah in detail:-

1) قيوميه الخلق
Allah created everything. The action of creating is from the قيوميه of Allah.

In (23:12-14):
23:12
23:13
23:14

خلقنا = Allah created Adam from dust
جعلناه = Allah made his offspring from نطفه and lodged it in a safe place
خلقنا = Allah created this نطفه into an علاقه (A clot of blood)
خلقنا = Allah created out of this علاقه a lump of flesh
خلقنه = Allah created out of this lump of flesh bones.
كسونه = Allah clothed these bones with flesh
أنشأنه = Allah brought it forth as a creation

No one is making the human go through these stages except Allah. Allah is قائم over it.
Nowadays when people talk about this, they talk without attributing the actions to Allah. This is not good manners with Allah.
Because of the humans ignorance of Allah's actions, their hearts are attached to the medicines and the doctors.

In (6:99):
6:99

انزل = Allah sent water from the sky
أخرجنا = Allah brought forth because of this water vegetation of every kind
اخرجنا = Allah brought forth from this vegetation green stock
نخرج = Allah brings forth from this clustered grain and clustered dates and gardens of dates, grapes, pomegranates, etc. They are similar in type, but they are different in colours, tastes, names, etc.

Allah brings forth (إنبات) plants. Allah is قائم over every plant and tree.

In (80:26):
80:26

Allah split the earth for the plant to grow. Have we attributed this action to Allah?

If Allah is taking care of the plant which sprouts from the rocks, will He not then take care of you?

Go to the Qur'an. Look at every creation of Allah and see how Allah brought it into existence. This is the قيوميه الخلق. The impact of this name is filled in our lives.

2) قيوميه الإمداد
Allah created all the creation and did not leave them without provision. Rather, he provided them with everything they need in this life and the means of their livelihood on this earth.

In (15:19-20):
15:19
15:20

مددناها = Allah spread out the earth for us
القينا = Cast therein mountains
انبتنا = Allah caused to grow
جعلنا لكم = Allah made for us the (معائش) means of provision.

What are the معائش Allah made for us? Food, drink, air, wood, animals, etc.
He made us means of provision like the hot season. If it weren't for that we wouldn't have AC's to sell, cold drinks, etc.
If there was no sickness there would be no hospital, no doctors, etc.
There is nothing Allah created on earth except it is a means of provision for us.
